Mr Brunner had just dismissed the group to examine the Grecian art gallery, when there was a scream coming from behind the door where Percy had gone with Mrs Dodds.
"Percy," I whispered, dashing towards the door with Grover hobbling behind me and Mr Brunner wheeling himself.
"Percy!" Grover and I screamed as we threw open the door; Boy, were we met with a sight...
Percy was being attacked by Mrs Dodds, but she wasn't exactly Mrs Dodds... she had massive wings, sharp teeth, and her skin looked like it had been turned inside-out. I grimaced at the thought. She and Percy were near enough to the ceiling for Percy to have to dodge the ceiling lights, all the while been hissed at about some lightning bolt.
"Drop him," Mr Brunner said, but gaining no response, he seemed to have a thought.
"Miss Thomas tell Mrs Dodds to drop your friend."
"Are you insane?" I hissed, "She doesn't exactly look like someone who would pay any attention to me!"
Grover pushed me forward though and I stumbled until I could see her. Gathering every ounce of courage I had in me, I yelled, "Hey! Batlady! Drop him!"
"It is the heir," she hissed to herself... wait, what?
I tried not to show my confusion as she bowed her head to me, hissing, "As you wish, Your Highness," before dropping Percy onto the floor and breaking through a window and flying away.
"Percy!" I rushed up to him, kneeling by him as he tried to catch his breath.
"What was that thing?" he yelled at Mr Brunner.
"And what the hell am I the heir of?" I demanded.
"Percy, Casey, there's something about yourselves that you guys don't know," Grover said.... noooooo, I always knew I had a certain power over fleshy bat creatures!
"They've found them," Mr Brunner observed, his voice hoarse.
"Should we get them to camp?" asked Grover.
"Camp?" Percy and I asked.
"Yes, I will be there in a few days," Mr Brunner replied, and Grover came up to us, grabbing our arms and ushering us away, but not before we both resisted.
"I am not going to any camp until I know what the hell it is!" I exclaimed.
"Casey, we need to go now! I know it's frustrating but you have to trust me!" Grover said.
"But before you go," Mr Brunner added, fishing about under his blanket for something, "Here are some things to protect yourselves."
He proceeded to hand Percy a pen, and me a skull ring. Percy and I looked at them both, unamused, before blatantly saying, "It's a pen," and "It's a ring," unanimously.
"They will protect you," Mr Brunner assured us, but we looked at each other in disbelief before Grover managed to push us out of the room and to the exit of the museum.
