" Yeah Niall, don't worry. Maya was an angel last night. Did you like the cake we made? Man, I wanted to finish the whole thing last night." I chuckled.
" Me too. It was delicious." Niall laughed. " Thanks once again, Lou. I gotta go, it's Monday - got work to do."
" Alright mate, bye." I greeted.
" Bye."
I hung up and bent down properly this time to tie my shoes. It was my first day of work and I was so excited! Could you blame me? I was gonna be working with books at a book store! How amazing was that!
Rising up from the bed, I then headed out to living room and put on my coat.
Realizing that my flat mate wasn't home yet, I shrugged and left him a note.
' Dearest Zayn,
Went off to work at the book store down two blocks in front of the bakery. See you later.
- Lou. "
Quickly checking if I had everything, I then walked out and locked the door behind me.
*
Walking in, it was warm and cozy and it smelled like wood, books and a slight tint of spearmints and candy canes.
I was soon greeted by a librarian who was around fifty and reminded me a bit of Mrs. Weasley from Harry Potter. She flashed me a smile and pulled me into a hug.
" You must be Lewis! Pleasure to meet you, deary! I'm Betty Thompson." She greeted with a massive smile.
" It's actually Lou-ie, and nice to meet you too, ma'am." I said with a grin.
" Oh, sorry, Louis! Well, let me show you around. Your application form looked very impressive! Studied Law and Creative Writing, got outstanding marks in all your examinations and was valedictorian in your year! Wow, you must be really smart, boy!" She exclaimed with a shocked voice.
" Thanks a lot, Mrs. Thompson. " I smiled.
She walked me through a lot of isles in between tall, wooden shelves of fifteen and showed me Leonard the ladder. It was a really tall ladder with wheels at the bottom. There was Leonard, Lisa and Bob.. Quite odd people they were.
She then showed me the reception where I'll be checking books when they will be returning them back here to the library or check them out if they will purchase them off the library.
Then, the exciting part came. We walked through two red doors that were big with golden handles and inside was a small dim office with dimmed down lights. Mrs Thompson brightened up the lights and there were tons of book shelves with a lot of books, desks with laptops and tons of wires snaking all over the floor from the laptop to the printers that were lined up against the wall and there was a coffee maker by the door with a small snack keeper, like in Starbucks.
There were also tons of papers everywhere. Three and half or probably more stacks of paper everywhere.
" This is the publishing room. Some of our workers who really show a talent and love for writing their own stories are given the opportunity to write here. They will be printed in paper and we will make the covers and everything and publish them out on our publishing company's name." She beamed. " We don't show this to all our employees."
" Well, why'd you show it to me?" I asked quite confused.
She turned to me and held my shoulders tight, " I know what you can do. I've seen you at that fancy coffee shop that's close by. You showed such passion for writing. The way your hands moved against that computer. I saw it in your eyes. "
I nodded and smiled at her before she gave me my locker and made me get to work.
