The Day Robin Lost it All

"Uhg," Artemis groaned as she sat up, holding her head. The others scattered around also beginning to stir.

"What the hell was that?" Wally asked looking around. They looked around and noticed they were in the middle of the same tent as before but in better shape. The stands around the edges looked newer, with less rust on them, and there were no rips in the tent. A clamour could be heard outside.

"Someone's coming," Superboy whispered and they moved to hide behind the stands.

"I'm sorry Mr. Zucco but I will not pay your 'protection' fee. It will not be needed," A man said as he walked in, followed by another shadier looking male. Dick paled as he recognized who walked in, Jack Haley followed by Tony Zucco.

"I highly suggest it. You wouldn't want anything bad to happen to your performers now. Would you?" the now known Mr. Zucco said as they moved across the tent.

"That will not be needed. My performers are quite highly trained and know how to protect themselves," Haley said as he gestured for the man to exit the other side of the tent.

As they left Kid Flash started to tap Robin's shoulder rapidly. The boy younger looked over to notice Wally pointing at a young boy hiding on the ladder for one of the large tent poles. Dick smiled, "Oh yeah, that's where I was hiding." The team looked at him startled at his sad, almost pitying, look. Wally opened his mouth but was cut off, "We should go. This is one day that can't be interrupted," Robin said stalking towards the exit.

"Wait, Rob, if that was... then does that mean..." Wally said once they had moved to a more privet spot outside of the tent, Robin nodding as the speedster trailed off. 

"Okay. I've been real patient for me, but what is happening?" Superboy said from the back of the group, others nodding in agreement. Robin sighed as Kid Flash put a hand on his shoulder for reassurance.

"We seemed to have travelled into the past to the day that decided I would become Robin," the team all gasped, except Wally, when the bird fell silent.

"Does that mean that was you on the pole?" Miss M asked.

"He was such a cute kid when he was younger," Wally said excitedly as Robin nodded.

"We should find a way back to our time then," Aqualad said getting down to business.

"That's gonna be hard cause we haven't started being heroes yet..." Robin trailed off thinking. He brightened, "We can ask Agent A." He said as he turned to Wally for confirmation.

"Are you sure?" Wally said thinking about it.

"He is the one that convinced Batman to adopt me," Robin pointed out, "We can go while Batman is out tonight." Wally nodded in agreement.

As the boys turned to move Artemis put up a hand, "Hold up. You were adopted?" she asked.

"Well not officially, but that's not for about another 2 months of torture," He said casually before turning and walking towards the city with Kid Flash close behind, the team standing shocked at his claim looked at each other before silently deciding to talk about it later and following.
