Chapter 5

Authors Note: Hello again! Welcome back! Early update because I've got a busy day tomorrow and it won't slow down til Tuesday of next week.

Warning for emotional trauma, and mentions of past abuse. As always, take care of yourself first and don't read it if it causes you any sort of emotional or mental pain.

I'm so excited for next chapter! Let me know what you think!

Also the ~A~ is kind of a report, showing a scene where Sang isn't there but might be important to answer plot questions or something idk

As always, thank you for your support, taking the time to read, comment, and vote. It means the world to me.

Have a great day!

~A~

"What did you find on her?" Mr. Blackbourne asked, staring at his computer screen hard, like the meaning of the universe was being held in each pixel.

Victor cleared his throat, lifting his hand to rub at his forehead. "You know I'm not the best, I might've missed something-"

"Mr. Morgan, I have complete faith in your skills. Please share what you found." Mr. Blackbourne said, his voice softer than an order.

He cared for each of his brothers, and it hurt him every time they put themselves down. They were all excellent in their areas of expertise, and were kind and caring on top of it. He wouldn't have picked them for his team if he didn't believe in them and their abilities.

"Nothing. I found nothing." Victor whispered, and everyone froze.

"She's a-" Kota started, but seemed to be caught on the word.

"No fucking way." North breathed, and Nathan nodded in agreement.

Normally Mr. Blackbourne would be calling them out on their language, but he seemed to be just as surprised as they were.

"What do we do?" Dr. Green asked, and Victor looked to their leader. They all did.

"We keep it under wraps and see what we can do to protect her. We know she is facing abuse at home-" They all flinched at this. "-but we can't do anything. Not with her status, and especially not when she still feels the way she does about her mother. She isn't willing to accept our help to fix the problem."

Their voices started rising as they argued about that. No one wanted to leave her there, not knowing just how bad it got.

The ones who had seen the bruises on her back had given a report, and not a single one of them could claim that they hadn't had a thought about going after her mother for the crimes she committed against her daughter.

Mr. Blackbourne sighed and held up a hand, and for the first time in a long time they could see his face contorted into an expression of pain and guilt.

"She has to stay a ghost. For now. But we will protect her. It's what we do best. We will train her so that she can protect herself. We will get her to trust us, and then we will get her out of the situation. We cannot do anything until we have that trust. Do you understand?"

With grim expressions, the boys around the room nodded. "I am willing and will obey."

I didn't know what time it was. I had no way of knowing, there weren't any windows down here. Just a bunch of boxes full of old clothes and books, and a freezer.
