3. Running in the woods

"How long do you plan on staying with us dear" the old lady at the front desks asks as she reaches behind her to grab a room key.

The motel wasn't anything special greenish brown carpet and deer heads hanging on the wall. To be honest I wanted to leave right after walking in, it's a little freaky, with a muggy smell of burnt coffee and flower perfume also probably some mold.

The kind lady at the front desk re assured me. She had a cheery personality with plump red rosy cheeks the shined when she smiled. The little hair she had was pulled into a tight bun at the top of her head with a few stray hairs twisting out in all directions. Natural curls. Her glasses slid of the bridge of her nose when she was reading over what rooms were available. She was like a teddy bear all the right fluff in all the right places.

"Oh just for a little while nothing long, and you said your cheapest room is how much again?" I asked digging my hands in the backpack to pull out the stolen cash. Eden and Mag were in the bathroom, Magnolia actually squealed when she saw an actual toilet. You could tell she didn't take in the appearance of the rest of the place.

"$100 for a weeks down pay or you can pay $25 a night." She said checking her calculator.

"We will do $100." I said smiling and handing her a wad of twenties.

"Okay sweetie and if you decide to stay another week just stop by again and pay the next $100. Your room is 17, right out the door and to your left." She said handing me the key and pointing to the front door.

"Okay thank you." I said politely placing my back pack on my shoulders. Taking the key from her cubby hands she gives me another cheery smile that is just so welcoming.

"Oh and one last thing the vending machines in the hall turn off at elven and I close shop then as well, I'll be back in the morning at 8:00 if you need anything." She States. "Thank you for letting me know I'm sure we will be just fine till then!" I giggle at her mater of fact tone.

"Um do you mind telling me what time it is right now?" I ask

"Of course, it's 10:48 " she says right as Mag and Eden exit the restroom.

"Alright thank you." Walking out the door with the girls in close follow.

Reaching room 17 I stick the key in the rust lock, that you have to jiggle a little to get access in the room. Pushing open the door, Magnolia runs past me and instantly dies onto the bed with arms spread wide like an airplane, she lands with a thud and a loud sigh.

"A bed has never felt so good!" She cries out kicking her legs in the air like a spoiled child who is excited about there new shinny toy.

"Oh no you don't Magnolia!" Eden exclaims walking into the room, following I shit the door and lock it.

Just Incase.

"What do you mean?" Magnolia whines face still shoved in the mattress.

"I mean that you need to shower, we all do before we dirty up the place!" Eden says shaking one of mags kicking feet "We also need to go hunt for supplies for more serum, other wise we won't last very long."

"She's right Mag we've got things to do before we can rest." I say backing Eden up.

"No! I want to sleep." Magnolia screams out her dislike. "You can sleep after you shower. Eden will you go get food from the machine." I say handing her a ten.

"I'm going to the woods across the street to get supplies." I say bluntly watching as looks of worry cross Edens face.

"You know that is not safe Norah. We go together, we stick together." She says bluntly. "I know but we don't have any serum. And we will attract more wolves if we are a group, together we have a strong smell." I say trying to get through to them that everything will be okay.
