The word nightmare echoed through my head....i got up and headed down stairs. I grabbed the keys.
I needed a break from all of this. I got in my car and drove off.
As I was driving the woman's screams rang through my brain and it chilled my nerves. I was curious as to why I keep having nightmares.
I drove down to the pharmacy. Maybe sleeping pills will let me get better rest. I walk into the pharmacy. As I pass through the door I look up at the security mirror and I see a small child following closely behind me. I walked further and the small child disappeared. I walk up to the medicine isle and grab a extra strength sleeping aid.
I walk up to the register and start a small conversation with the cashier.
"How you doing?"
A creepy carousel music pushing through my head.
"I'm doing fineand yourself"
The music gets louder, I start to get on edge
"I'm doing....okay...."
Silence over comes me again. I hear a small chiming, a xylophone if you will. Key afterkey gently struck.
I turn around and look behind me.
The small boy is staring at me. I look more intently at him. His mouth is sewn shut. His eyes are a milky white with red bloodshot cracks.
I look outside and everything's foggy.
My glance turns back to the boy.
That's what it's been...this boy has been following me...
This is what's been after me.
The tone changes and the eyes go from milky white to gray to black.
The bloodshot cracks get darker.
I hear the wind.
I start to back up.
The boys head cocks to the side and his mouth rips open and the stitches rip his face apart.
A scream erupts from his mouth. I cover my ears and slide down the counter front and curl into a ball and close my eyes.
"Sir"..
"Sir"...
"Sir are you Okay"
I open my eyes, and look up.
I stare at him in confusion looking around for the young boy.
"That will be 15 dollars"
Nowhere to be found. I hand him a 20 dollar bill and walk out.
I drive home as quick as possible.
Somethings wrong.
Somethings terribly, terribly wrong.
I arrive home and head up stairs to my room. I sit on my bed, open the pills and take a single dose.
I look at the ceiling and sit up.
I take another dose.
I lay back and close my eyes.
I awake. It's about midnight.
I felt pressure on me and I didn't decide to move. I look ahead of me and that boy is back.
I stare at him and question everything. He looks at me and whispers "nightmare" and his figure starts to distort and shape shift. Fear piles through my body. Adrenaline surges but freezes. My heart drops and hits a 6th gear speed. My body turns to ice.
I hear chains and shackles. Everything around me goes dark and I hear a scream from each side of me. Everything goes quiet.
My senses come back and I hear another scream but I see nothing. I go to run to my door and as I reach the door it slams shut. I can't open it. It's impossible to open. I run to each window, each windows bolted shut. I run back to my bed and sit on it. I scoot back and curl into a ball. I close my eyes.
The word "nightmare" gets whispered one more time. I open my eyes and the boy is face to face with me. A scream pierces my ears and everything goes silent.
"Mr Yates....Mr Yates...can you hear me."
I open my eyes and sit up. I look around and I get confused...
I look at this man in a doctor's coat...his name tag reads "Mr Vaughn"..
I look at him...
"Where am I...?"
He tilts his head confusingly
"You're in Green Aura Mental Asylum"
I sit back
"Why..?"
He looks at me and questions me.
"Do you really not remember??"
I grimaced
"I don't remember"
He smiled and said.
"Try and think"
It all flooded into my brain. Visual I'd never seen
Things I repressed.
I sat there shocked.
"I'm here because I killed my mother and father...."
The doctor nodded
"That's right"
I was awake...the reality I tried to escape found it's way back...i don't want it.
I laid back and closed my eyes. I awoke once again in my bed and the alarm read "7:00 a.m.".
