The police were continuing with their routine investigation. In due course the police regarded this case to be really tricky one. The man had many enemies around and abroad too. He was murdered in a closed room without and sign of violence . It seemed as if he was murdered by someone whom he already knew. In cross examination of the alibi of all the household members it was found that none of them were in this part of the house when Major Hodson was murdered...that indicates that he himself must have let in the murderer. He was stabbed with a kukri (the kind we get in Nepal and its outskirts). Now the question again arises how was he murdered. At last the police decided to take the help of the famouse private investigator Mr. Boyd. Now this detective lived in London . The police inspector Smith approached him and narrated the incident. Mr. Boyd agreed to help the police in this case. He went to Buckworth Manor and started the investigation. No one knew of his methods. He took the questioning reports from the police. One day suddenly he disappeared.
