Today, Tonks and I are going to Diagon Alley to buy my stuff. I am so excited! I've never been there, but everytime Hermione talked about it, it seemed like an awesome place, full of new people. She said it smelled like heaven, sounded like hell because of all the people and looked like a paradise of books, witch hat, and fun. I get up early, take a long and boiling shower, a thing i never let myself do because I never really paid attention to my apparence since I never went out. I even sang a little while rubbing the vanilla/coconut scented shampoo on my scalp. When I hop out, I almost slip on the ground, but instead of swearing under my breath I laugh it up. I don't even recognize myself for God' sake. I let my long hair loose for once and put on high waisted denim shorts, a vintage T-shirt of the Weird Sisters (a group of music Tonks showed me last year, I can't get enough of them!) under a green jumper and my black Dr Martens boots. I look at myself and smile, my heart beating fast. I think it's the fist time I look at myself and am satisfied in a freakin' long time. I run downstairs to eat breakfast, leaving a trail of water drops on the floor. My dad and Tonks are already in the kitchen, drinking their morning coffee. Dad's reading the news paper and Tonks is eating french toasts.
"Good morning!" I say, having to put extra effort to not sing those two words.
-"Morning sweetie. Someone's in a good mood! " Dad smiles.
-"Hey! Ready for Diagon Alley Ophie?" Asks Tonks.
"-Yes, I am!
-Here eat this we're leaving soon".I eat quickly, carefully watched by Dad, making sure I'm not choking on the sweet bread. I wash my plate and we leave by portkey, a bag on my shoulders.
When we get there, hundreds of witch and wizards are shopping. I can smell butterbeer and spices from where I stand. Tonks takes my hand and leads me into a store called "Ollivanders", the essential store, a must-visit in Diagon alley said Dora. When we get in, there is no one in sight. The store is completely silent and smells like the door and windows were not opened for decades. Little boxes are tightly stacked in wooden shelves that reach the cieling. Weird objects decorate glass cabinets beside the counter where a golden bell stands. Tonks barely rings the said bell in front of us and an old man appears out of an alley of little boxes. He has crystal blue eyes, full of joy, rosy cheeks and medium length white and silver hair. He looks at me for a while and says:
"Well Miss Lupin, to be honest, I didn't expect you to come here after all these years. " he turns to see Tonks and say: "And you Miss Tonks, always a pleasure to see you. Nice hair, by the way!" pointing with his chin the electric blue curls Tonks decided to pull out today. The man walks away slowly and disapears between the shelves, a finger on his chin looking up the alleys with eyes narrowed. He comes back with three rectangular boxes. He opens the first one, a red satin one. He lends me a long wand made of wood with gold increased in it.
"Well, try it. "
I pick the wand up and flick my wrist, making the glass doors of the nearest cabinet explode by accident.
"Not this one!" The seller says, shaking his hands in the air, trying to hide a smile.
He lends me the other box, an emerald faux-leather one. I open it and find a black wand with small designs on it. "Lumos!" I say. The door of the store slams open, breaking a vase at the same time. "Oops.." I say looking at Tonks, which is coughing loudly to hide her laughter. "Don't worry about it, try this one instead! It must be the one for you this time. ". He passes me a velvet blue box. I open it and see a magnificent wand made of grey wood. Small white gems are increased on top of it. I feel a warm feeling in my chest as I touch the wand. I point it on one of the books in the shelf behind Ollivander. I close my eyes, to remember a spell Harry tried to teach me last night. I open my eyes and say clearly: "Wingardium Leviosa! ". The book flies to the ceiling easily and comes back on the counter, light as a feather. I smile, releaved. "This one is perfect, sir.-Of course it is, it was the same as your mother's! I should have thought about it first!"
After I bought my wand, Tonks and I go to Flourish & Blotts, a bookstore. Dad made us a list of the supplies I need for this year's classes. Tonks offers me to look for my books so I can wonder in the shop for books I'd like to read. I walk through the aisles, looking at the titles. I smell the withdrawn odor of parchment and big books. I brush the covers of the manuals with my finger tips as I wonder through the alleys. Hermione was right, this is one of the best thing about the wizarding world. I stop to seek for a book about Astrology, only to meet a pair of stormy blue eyes staring at me through the shelves. I've never seen such eyes before, they were absolutely stunning. A mix of the Atlantic ocean and a raging tornado, orned with eyelashes as white as snow. Cold eyes that warms me inside. A mix of million gallions diamond and the most pricy sapphire that exists. I stare at the person in front of me, not saying a word. My mouth must be lying on the wooden floor by now. Straight locks of snowy-blond hair fall in front of his gaze, making him look even more handsome. It's like time has stopped. He smirks, looking straight in my eyes. I hear Tonks calling me, so I look away, my cheeks turning slightly red. I smile at him and he smiles back. A smile I'll never forget. When I get back to Tonks, she frowns, shaking her head with a smirk, takes my hand and leads me out of the store. "Already making heads turn on her first day out. How to freak out Moony more..." I hear her mumble under breath. I blush and look down to hide it. We buy all the stuff I need and get back home after stopping at Florean Fortescue's Ice cream Parlor. Tonks wanted me to taste "pure happiness", in her own words.
I get in my bedroom, after telling my dad everything about my day (except the guy from Flourish & Blotts). He seemed happy to see that he made the good decision to let me go. Before I climb up the stairs, Tonks whispers: "Don't dream too much about books... or blondies." as she winks in a non-discrete way. I feel my cheeks burning as I run in my room.
I tidy up my stuff under my bed with my suit case and lay on my bed looking at the ceiling. Dad and his friends painted all the constellations on it so at night, I can look at the stars. It's beautiful, really. I quickly find Sirius' star. I've always liked astronomy. I think it's fascinating. Watching the stars relaxes me, it's like an escape from reality. Hermione told me there's an Astronomy tower where you can observe the stars in her school, I cant' wait to see it. I slowly fall asleep, thinking about the boy with the blue eyes, about Hogwarts and my family.
