The three minute warning bell rings across the quad as you start to lightly jog. You've always been grateful for the gorgeous campus you attend at, but sometimes you wished it weren't so large.
Softly panting you plop into your seat in English just as the bell, signaling class starting, goes off.
"Hey (y/n)," says (c/n).
"Hello," you reply.
"You ready for our test today?"
"What?!"
"Ha, JK JK. There's no test today," (c/n) chuckles, turning back to those at his table.
"Hello class," greets Ms. Monahan, chipper as always.
"This is my favorite class!" (c/n) says. Ms. Monahan offers him a polite smile at his over the top enthusiasm.
"Today we are going to be reenacting the next part in Oedipus Rex. Any volunteers?"
You naturally raise your hand, but you've been in every other reenactment thus far and quite a few hands are raised this time around.
You don't get picked, but are excited to see (c/n) play his part.
"Why aren't you up there?" asks the boy who sits next to (c/n).
"Oh, I wasn't selected," you reply nonchalantly.
"Yo (c/n)!" he shouts "We're kicking you out. Give your role up to (y/n)."
(C/N) without hesitation walks over to you.
"Well then (y/n) come on," he beckons.
"Oh, um, no, I'm alright, you should really play the part."
"No, no come on."
He lightly takes you by the hand, to the front of the class. He takes the costume he was wearing, helping you put it on.
"No, but, this is your part..." you protest, feeling bad.
"Come on (y/n), play the part!"
A/N: heh, you see what I did there *nudge, nudge* I incorporated the title. What? I'm lame. 😄 Sorry, I'll leave.
"Alright," you reply, giving up, "Thank you."
After class you pack up your things heading home only to find (c/n) awkwardly loitering outside the classroom.
"Hey," you say a bit uncertainly.
"Hi (y/n)," he replies, "I was wondering if, er, um..."
You gave him an inquisitive look.
"Would you perhaps, maybe, um... help me with math homework?""Oh, alright."
The two of you walk over to a nice secluded area. You pull out your binder and start showing him how to solve some three by three matrices.
"You see normally you'd have to do all this work, but with the criss-cross method it should take less than a minute."
"Listen, um, (y/n). Not to be rude, but I don't really want help with math," (c/n) sputtered out, "Not that that wasn't helpful!"
Now you were really confused.
"Well, I was wondering if you'd maybe want to go out on a date sometime?" he whispered.
"Okay," you whispered back.
"Why are we whispering?"
"I don't know you started it."
The two of you burst out laughing, breaking the tension.
"How exactly do you do that criss-cross thing again, though?"
You chuckled, showing him once more. His face was oddly close to yours, peering intently down at the paper.
You froze and he turned to meet your gaze in question. Your noses brushed against one another, neither of you daring to move.
With a quivering breath (c/n) sealed his lips atop yours.
"Mm..."
The two of you gently held one another.
"I love you," you breathed out.
"I love you, too."
A/N: Sorry this was so short. Most of my stories are variations of dreams, but this one was actually kind of real, minus that happy ending. Anyway, thanks for reading!
