It was the final match against your rival school in the FRC (First Robotics Competition). Kind of nerdy, but you couldn't deny the fact that it was fun. Not to mention you goy to see (c/n) basically every day.
Your robot shot balls like bullets into the goal, finally pushing your team into the lead. You could see the opposing team's alliance grimace, including your school's rivals.
You could hear the rest of your team and your alliance cheer in the audience. You turned your attention to (c/n). Sweat dripped down the side of his face as his eyes focused on the bot in front of him and his hands swiftly handled the x-box controller in his hands.
A buzzer rang announcing your team's victory and ability to continue into the nationals. You jumped for joy, hugging (c/n) in the thrill of the moment. He almost immediately pulled away, though, awkwardly high-fiving Jared, another team member.
The entire team went out for a formal dinner, since all the cars were full (c/n) volunteered to drive you.
"You did awesome!" you said, trying not to let it show how nervous being alone with him made you.
"Thanks," he said, still grinning since your team's victory. He briefly glanced at you before turning his gaze back to the dark road ahead. They really needed to add more streetlights here.
You looked out the window at the trees. Man did forests look creepier in the dead of night.
"Man, all these trees look haunted," (c/n) said, voicing your thoughts. You chuckled as he nervously eyed the wilderness around you.
You saw him sigh in relief as you both reached civilization in the form of a pizza hut and a seven eleven in the middle of nowhere.
It seemed you had both relaxed too soon, though, as a deer bolted in front of (c/n)'s car.
"Murderer!" he screamed, swerving the car into a lamp post.
"Oh, it was just a deer," he said sticking his head out the window.
"Sorry 'bout that," he apologized, his cheeks slightly red.
"That's okay," you said, still slightly traumatized.
"You alright?" he asked, trying to start the car again.
"I'm fine," you said, not sure his car felt the same way. The lamp had fallen over to the other side, but the hood of the car still looked totally wrecked.
(C/N) sighed in defeat.
"It won't start."
You take out your phone dialing up 911. The operator on the phone sent a mechanic your way.
"I'm sorry," (c/n) apologized, "You probably won't be able to attend the dinner now."
You laughed at how sad he seemed.
"It's not that big of a deal don't worry about it."
In all honesty not even the thrill of winning could overcome the past month's lack of sleep. A simple dinner would have really been preferable to this mega formal dinner the district hosts for all the victors.
"It may not be much of a compensation, but how about I buy you some pizza?"
"That would be awesome," you said, trying not to jump out of your seat.
He grinned as the both of you made your way to the pizza hut.
The two of you decided it was better to stay in the car than the ultra-ACed fast food joint.
(C/N) stopped eating and faced you. You put down the slice of pizza in your hand.
"(y/n) I've been meaning to tell you this for a while, but I didn't want to make build season and competition super awkward..."
"What is it?"
"Well, I really like you and watching you on the team has only made me like you more. After spending almost everyday together with you, I really just had to tell you, we couldn't have won without you."
Unable to control yourself any more you threw your arms around him.
"Too be honest the day I first saw you I thought I wouldn't really like you, but then I did. I was pretty sure you wouldn't like me, because I acted so... weird around you, but-"
He cut off your rambling with a kiss.
His warm soft lips melted against yours as shivers ran up your spine. His arms pulled you closer to him, pressing your bodies together.
You pulled away enough to let warm air pass between you.
"This is way better than any victory dinner," you said.
He chuckled, leaving a hot kiss on your forehead.
