Mark's POV:
I look into the mirror one more time to adjust my appearance and see if I'm decent. I floof my hair a bit and fix my tie so it will be straight. I sigh and walk out the bathroom, satisfied with my look, and I start heading out the door when suddenly, I get hit with a wave of embarrassment. I know I'm going to the party to cause chaos but, what if I meet that boy? He's seems shy and probably won't even want to talk to me for any reason. And he'll be surrounded by heroes. Why did I think this was a good idea? I took a deep breath and slowly headed out the door. Like I said, I'm digging myself a hole so might as well stick to it. I started walking towards the mansion which was far but at least I have good stamina. As soon as I'm half way, mother nature decided that it would be a fun time to start making it rain. I groaned and started running towards the mansion. Well, this is unusually chaotic.

One rain soaked run later~
I finally got to the mansion and I was out of breath. I took a second to catch my breath and look at the mansion itself. I had to admit, it was pretty and had a familiar feeling to it. I rang the doorbell and all of a sudden I'm met with a man in a butler suit. "Are you here for the party sir?" "Uh, yes, I am 'sir'?" He stepped aside and i walked in, taking in the view. As I walked forward, I started to hear the sound of music, clattering dishes, bustling movements, and chattering all in one. I turned the corner and I was down the hall where there was a large entry way filled with light and sounds. I walk through the entry and all I see is dancing, talking and the big time hero in the middle of it. My hand combed through my hair as I walked over to the food table and sat down in one of the seats. As time went on, I figured I should talk to someone but I don't know who. That's when I see a figure standing beside me. "H-hello, mind if I-i join you?" That voice. I blushed and looked up to see the boy from earlier smiling. I nodded and I heard a big flump on the chair beside me. The moment was getting too awkward for me so I decided to lessen the tension. "So, why aren't you dancing and chattering up anyone?" He looked down and blushed, how cute, and started playing with his fingers. "W-well, I'm not very good at parties, a-an-and I actually wanted to go and find you." "Ho ho ho, why is that?" "I wanted to apologize for my father. He really loves carrying that medal for attention." "It's fine. So were you going to sit by me the entirety of the party?" He started blushing and looking down. As I saw this, I noticed that he really is just a shy guy. 'Awww, how cute.' "Actually, I wouldn't mind you sitting next to me. You're the only person I'm tolerating to be near me." I said, as I looked at his face change. He unexpectedly shot out his hand and looked like he was holding his breath. "I'm Jack, sorry I didn't say anything earlier." I smiled gently and grabbed his hand. "It's alright, and I think I already know yours." He giggled and we just started talking. It was about almost everything: video games, books, our favorite foods, color, etc. I never felt so giddy talking about this with my friends, not even when I first met them. He's making me think weird again. I gotta stop talking before I do something stupid. "Hey, I'm gonna go get wine, you want some?" "That would be nice. Thank you." I start getting up and walked down the table towards the wine. I picked up a good looking bottle of wine from the bucket of ice when all of a sudden I felt an arm around me. "Hey hey hey, look who came." I looked to the side to see none other than the big hero himself. 'Not him, I don't have time for this.' I quickly grabbed two wine glasses and walked back towards Jack when I felt the hand on my shoulder. "C'mon Mark, what's the big hurry?" "Well, one is I want to be as far away from you as possible and another is I want to enjoy this wine." "Ouch, right to the heart huh Mark. Well, I'll be quick, what made you change your mind to come to the party?" I sighed moved up so his hand would get off my shoulder and I turned around to him. "Do I really have to justify my actions with you?" He crossed his arms and looked around the room like he was thinking. 'Funny, when has he ever thought of his actions?' "Well, I just wanted to know because you seemed to be oh so mad at me that you said you didn't want to go to a party with us heroes. I'm just asking." I sighed and looked at him. 'He has that stupid grin on his face and it's pissing me off.' "Fine, you want to know my reason, I just wanted to see if I could cause some chaos and I don't know, ruin the party." "But?..." "Buut, I decided to just hang out by the only good thing in this party: the food and wine." He had a blank stare and then chuckled. "You are very much a weird kid Mark. You know, I actually thought that and decided to get my job to watch you and they said that you've been talking to my son." "Yeah, so what?" "So what? Well, I'll tell you. My son has a habit of trusting the wrong person. He says that they are his friends. And then, maybe two days later his heart is broken and so is nose, arm, etc. Luckily, no man friend of his is a perv. So, I don't want him to do the same with you, you may be a perv or something so I'm just looking out for my son. That's all." My heart almost shattered. Why would he tell me this? He's acting like I would do something so bad to him. I may be a Prince of darkness, but I'm better than my instincts to ruin a poor boy's life. "Sir, I admire your protection, but unlike those people who he has met before, I won't do nothing of the sort." Just then, I saw his smile get replaced with a serious frown. "But you're blood, it's dark. I'm only looking out for my son." "My bloodline has nothing to do with anything in this situation. So please, let me go. Me and him were going to indulge in this bottle of wine." I turned on my heel and left him standing there. I had a sigh of relief as I saw Jack sitting there looking at me with a smile. I sat down next to him and gave him a glass. I poured us wine and even made a small toast. "To us!" I smiled and held my glass up a bit. "To us." He started drinking and I took sips of mine. I started thinking back. 'No way. I won't do that to Jack. I'll protect him.' It sounds weird from me, I'm no man in shining armor nor am I able to say that, but I will say it and say it again

' I'll protect him.'~
