What happened?
This isn't what I imagined it to be
Mother nature is sick and cruel to her children"I want to be like her."
"I want to be like him."
"Look how beautiful she is."
"Look how handsome he is."I am average
I am nothing special
That is what they all say to meWhy?
Because girls get upset when they don't look like Barbie dolls
Because boys get upset when Daddy doesn't stick aroundKids aren't kids anymore
I miss that
I miss when all I had to care about was learning the alphabet
I miss when all I had to care about was knowing one-ten
I miss the good old daysBack when nobody cared about looks
Back when I wasn't so stressed
Back when peope were true friendsWhy did we let this catch on?
As a society?
As a community?
As a family?'Cause you see,
It's funny
No one actually cares about your personalityPeople care about how thin your waist is
People care about how big your eyes are
People care about what your skin color is
People care about what products you use on your face
People care about what shoes you wearAnd I am smiling on the outside
Pretending it doesn't hurt
Pretending like I never heard their comments
Pretending like I don't knowSo I am sorry
I am so terribly sorry
For you
For my friends
For my enemies
For every person who ever finds thisBecause in the end, we can theorize what happened
But mother nature has and always will be sick and cruel to her children.A/n I guess this was supposed to be a slam poem of sorts, not really... idk
