Liam dwelled on the thought to call Niall. The thought of talking to someone so positive seemed like the easy way out, however, something told Liam that not even Niall's jokes could lighten the dampening mood.

Then again, the thought of Niall joking when he knew what was going on around him didn't sound normal either.

It was the idea of normalcy that frightened Liam.

Ever since he was sixteen the word normal didn't define his life. Legend, or Lucky. Not normal.

No, now the term normal was used in mockery to anyone that had their picture taken whilst literally going to grab milk from the grocery store.

Perhaps he pondered too long on calling Louis and that's why he dialed those numbers, he'd blame it on himself not paying attention. Liam would go as far to say this was normal.

Friends talk, they call and text about the weather and what was happening in each other's lives. Friends did this.

Although Liam was well aware what Louis considered a friend, and that day he didn't fit the description. Liam was utterly disgusted when called into Simon's office. He felt the instant need to rinse his mouth, rid the tongue he used to propel the obsessive lies through his teeth sinking in his stomach.

The blatant disbelief he himself had for his lack of understanding of what was going to happen.

Liam would blame it on denial.

Staring at the phone screen with hands that shook like a smoker did when craving, Liam couldn't help but pitch it at the wall closing his eyes once he heard the rippling crack of the glass.

"Did you know?" Simon asks, his hands set firmly on the mahogany desk in front of him representing not only his money but the limitless power he seemed to uphold when it came to the boy's lives. He controlled every time they smiled, blinked, every lie ever told, Simon Cowell was the mastermind behind it.

Liam feels chills thump down his spine tauntingly, his shivers rubbing his hand down his arm anxiously as he brings his head up to fixate his chocolate eyes on the colder, colorless ones staring back at him awaiting the answer he wanted to hear. And after the years of constant media control classes, Liam folded like a rag doll,
"I knew they were friends.
