Arden yawned as she leaned back into her chair, drifting off. Arden glanced at the clock, realizing the number of hours she had spent. Her sleepy mood was interrupted all of a sudden when she heard something.
Thump!
There it goes again.
It was like someone was trying to break into her apartment.
Thump!
But this time it was followed by a creaking sound.
CREAAAK!
Arden tensed up and began to tiptoe towards the source of the strange sounds. By this time, her palms were sweating and she was pacing around her plain, white room.
Arden was getting tired of this.
'Screw it.' she opened the door in a swift motion.
"Hey!" she approached.
Arden jumped. It was her roommate, Xena.
"You scared me," Arden said.
"What do you mean?" Xena replied.
Arden subtly rolled her eyes as she walked over to the center of the living room where a certain machine caught her attention.
"Xena, what's this doing here? Looks like a terminator." Arden said bluntly as she investigated its anatomy.
"A failed project, that's what it is. It was supposed to be some kind of physical health tracker, but it never really worked out. You can use it for something if you want." Xena replied.
"Arden, it's not going to kill you in your sleep, stop being so paranoid." Xena assured, "no, but seriously. What's gotten into you lately?"
"Nothing, nothing." Arden snapped as she brought the broken pieces into her room.
Locking her bedroom door, Arden sighed as she observed the machine.
"I should fix you," she muttered as she analyzed the machine, taking out her tools, beginning to fix it. It was fun, she thought.
Little did she know that this would only be the start of something life-changing.
