Camila POV

Sneaking back in to my house my head was spinning. I was still not sure why I had suggested the whole friends with benefits thing considering it was a step down from what we had discussed previously. I guess I thought maybe it would hurt less if things went wrong again. My album was less than a month away from launching and my nerves were shot. Lauren had no idea how much of the album was going to be about her and I was scared she would react badly.

Sitting on my bed it was now 5am. I knew my dad would wake Sofi up about 7am so I decided it was pretty pointless trying to sleep.

Camila - Are you still awake Lolo? X

I lay back hoping she would respond.

Lauren – Yeah, I am. My ankle hurts so much I can't get comfy. Wish you were here.

x

My heart jumped out of my chest seeing her response.

Camila – I wish I was there too...this sucks. Have you got Nala nearby? X

Lauren – Yeah I am spooning her as we speak. Although she doesn't smell like you anymore ☹ X

Camila – I will change that next time I see you. When do you think that will be? x

Racking my brain, I couldn't think of one moment I had free in the next few months.

Lauren – How about you let me take you on a date the day before I leave for New Year? Your promo run will start soon and I don't want to leave without seeing you. X

Lauren POV

After pressing send, I wasn't sure whether calling it a date was the right thing to do. Just as I was about to fire off another message to correct myself my phone buzzed.

Camila – sounds perfect. Let me know what time and I will be there. X

Thank god, she hadn't questioned it. Now all I needed was to come up with the perfect plan.

The next few days went in a blur and before I knew it, it was the night before mine and Camila's date. I had pulled a few favours and managed to get one of my Miami friends to lend me their boat. I was planning on surprising her with a romantic picnic.

Lauren – Hey Camz picking you up at 5pm tomorrow, usual spot? x

I waited anxiously for her reply.

Camila – Looking forward to it x

Camila POV

I had told my parents I was going around to an old school friends and they seemed happy enough. It wasn't like they cared what I did and lying to them made me feel uncomfortable but I still wasn't ready to talk.

Looking in the mirror one final time before I set off I felt somewhat confident. I had on a pair of blue jeans and a white cropped top. Although it was late December Miami never seemed that cold. I had left my hair down and in its natural waves. I was honestly expecting to be nervous but at this point I had nothing more I could lose.

Lauren POV

Pulling up down the alley next to café Camila was waiting for me. Rolling down the window slightly I caught a glimpse of what she was wearing. She always looked beautiful but today she looked breath taking.

"Hey babe" she said as she got in the car. Slightly taken aback by the pet name I smiled and started to drive.

"You look beautiful" I said finding a new sense of confidence.
