When you speak of her,
tell them her story.
tell them all the things she had to do
just to be happy.
tell them how much she cared for her family
to smile and live
how she cracked a smile on everyone's
face every time she walked by.
tell them the stories she used to tell you,
when you we're just a little toddler
tell them how happy she looked
when she walked around Nyc
greeting everyone who dared to stare at her.
Tell them the story
of a young girl who's life was falling apart.
bit by bit Day by day hour by hour
How she had to wake up every morning
and remind herself to put on a mask
just to look 'presentable'.
Tell them how she used to cry every night
thinking when is this torture
going to finally stop.
tell them how she wished to just fall asleep
and never wake up again
How she whined and stomp at her
parents when they used to tell her 'No!'
Show them where she hid her scars
where she had her blade hidden
Where she scratched the wall with lines
counting the days that passed by
show them all the sweaters that she kept hidden that had blood all over the sleeves.
explain to them the pain she was feeling every
day that passed by
how with just two words she convinced
her parents that she was 'Fine.'
so do me a favor
when you speak of her
tell them her story
tell them what an amazing girl she was,
but don't forget to tell them
that that person was once you.
