Nick
There’s something about today that feels different, a good different. Maybe because of how well everything is going between me and Demi, or that it’s such a nice day, or maybe the fact I haven’t wanted to do anything criminally in a while. She has been changing my point of view on life ever since we got together. I never have been happier in my life. I am with the one I truly do love. I feel like my world is complete.
I take my time in the shower to get ready for the day, since I woke up earlier than I planned to. I have a breakfast date with Demi today, and she’s going to help me find a job, despite my record. I really am hoping that my life will turn around like I want it to. I want to change not for my sake, but for Demi’s. I have put her through so much shit ever since graduation.
“Nick!” I heard her call. We were in the crowd of people after the graduation ceremony. I look over to meet her smiling face.
“Hey!” I made my way over to her and pull her into a hug.
“We did it,” she says, her beaming smile still on her face.
“Yes, we did, Dem.” I answer, giving her an equal smile on my face.
“Hey, cutie,” I heard someone say behind me. Olivia. Just by the sound of her voice, Demi’s smile quickly faded. She never liked her. It blew my mind how much Demi didn’t like Olivia.
“Come on, my parents are waiting to see you!” Olivia squealed.
“I’ll be there in a minute, I just want to talk to Demi right now,” I explain. Olivia’s happy expression turned serious.
“You’re coming with me, now, I don’t fucking care about what you want to do with Demi,” with the emphasis on ‘care’, she had grabbed my hand tightly. “Come on, Nick. We need to go now.” She whined. I let out a sigh and gave Demi a reassuring smile that I would catch up with her later. Little did I know, Olivia had kept me from talking to Demi for the rest of that night, and for the next week and a half.I make my way over to Demi’s apartment. I wait for a minute or two before I knocked. It felt like forever had passed when she finally opened her door, revealing her contagious smile.
“Hey, beautiful,” I told her as she let me in.
“Hey, handsome,” her soft giggle made me happy. I smiled at her before kissing her.
“You ready?” she asked, catching me off guard.
“Oh, yeah, I’ve been ready.” It came out as sarcastic, but I didn’t mean it to be.We made our way to our favorite diner and ordered. Everything felt so right, so in place. I could get used to this.
