Chapter 3

I woke up to the continuous knocking on my door. I grumbled and pulled the covers over my head, but the intruder refused to give up.
I slowly left the comfort of my bed.
It better not be Evelyn
"Yeah?"" I opened the door expecting her, but it was the alpha that stood on the other side of the door.
"Alpha? " I was confused.
"Son I need to talk to you. May I come in?"
"Of course. " I held the door as he walked in.
"Is something wrong? "I asked as soon as he sat down on the bed.
He motioned for me to sit beside him with a sad expression on his face.
I sat.
"As soon as I took you out of the prison yesterday, I gave my beta the task of finding out what happened to your pack"
I turned to him, suddenly scared.
"What happened? "
"I'm so sorry. Your pack did not survive the attack. "
"My parents? " I asked fighting the tears that wanted to spill.
He looked away.
"Same goes for them. " he said softly.
"No! No! " I screamed. "it's not true, I don't believe you "
My heart was breaking and I couldn't do anything about it.
I fell on my knees, covered my face with my palms and cried.
Arms wrapped around me and I wanted to break free.
"Please don't. Let me help you "
It was Nicholas.
The rest of the family must be here I thought.
I instantly wrapped my arms around his torso and cried the more. I didn't care anymore.

"What about their bodies and those of the rest of the pack ?" I asked later that day. I was alone in my room with Nick.
" Dad said that only few were found together with your parents " He answered softly.
"Does that mean that I am not the only survivor? " I asked with a little hope.
"I think so, but they are not sure yet "
I gave a small sigh.
Mom didn't save him then. She promised that she would come back, but she didn't.
Immediately, I remembered my bracelet.
"Where are you going? " he asked as I stood up.
"I forgot my bracelet downstairs. I'll be quick "
"Do you want me to follow you there "
"No thanks. I know the way. I'll be right back " I said leaving the room.
I slowly went downstairs to the living room and took the door that led to the hallway.
It wasn't there. I searched thoroughly, but I couldn't find it.
It was gone.
She was gone.
They were gone.
They had saved me, but they left me.
I leaned back against the door and slowly slid down to the floor.
Hugging my knees, I released the tears all over again.

The alpha and his family with some of his men helped in burying the bodies of my parents and the pack warriors.
It was the most terrible day of my life.
My eyes were red and puffy. Nick was there with me through out the funeral. The beta even sympathised with me.
He had me join the full moon pack officially that night.
I became Nick's twin bro.

Six years later

As soon as my body hit the bed, I slept off refusing to think about Miss No Good downstairs.

"Can't I get some peace for once in my life? "I complained referring to the person who just pulled the blanket off me, whom I haven't bothered to look at.
"If it's you Nick, I beg you with all my heart, get out of my room " I continued with my head buried under my pillow.
"Peace you say "
Evelyn?
I quickly removed the pillow and turned to her.
Thank God I don't sleep naked.
"Peace you say, I'm the one with no peace of mind in this house " She was still holding my blanket.
"Why are you telling me this? " I asked a bit confused.
"None of your business. " she replied, looking away.
Huh? Is she ever alright.
"Mind handing me back my blanket and leaving my room? "
"You can have it back, don't wanna get infected anyway "
She threw it on my face.
"Evelyn! "I snapped, pulling the blanket off my face.
"My stupid brother wants you downstairs now and be quick about it " She commanded, unaffected and left my room.
Mrs moon goddess, have I wronged you in any way?

I jogged downstairs to meet the whole family at the dinning table. The beta was also there.
"Morning "I greeted as I took the seat near Nicholas.
The alpha nodded, the beta only glanced at me.
Strange guy
He had consoled me back when my parents were being buried, told me he lost his mate to rogues too. Hasn't talked to me since then.
His nose had healed, but still showed signs of being broken before.
A permanent sign that we might be friends.
The omegas served us as soon as the Luna and Evelyn joined us.
"Don't you ever send your sister to my room again " I whispered to Nick.
"I'll keep that in mind "He replied, smirking.

"Why did you want to see me? " I asked him as soon as we left the dinning room.
"Yes. About that, I want you to join me in the pack training grounds today "
"I don't understand. I've always participated "
"I know. The thing is that I want you to be my fighting partner today "
My jaw dropped.
"Thanks a lot for the offer, but I'll pass. I don't want to end up with the pack nurse " I said and turned to leave.
He grabbed my arm.
"Please I need your help. Dad wants to hand over to me soon and I need to prove to the pack that I am strong enough to lead them " he pleaded.
"And you want me to be the guinea pig? " I asked, turning to him.
"We both know that you are more than you give yourself credit for. They all know that you beat the Gamma's son last time "
"That's not actually victory you know, everyone knows the guy is a weakling. He's only got a mouth " I said, trying to talk him out of it.
"But you are still an Alpha's son, You've got to possess extra strength and stuff. "
"The strength thing only happens if you have met your wolf and I haven't met mine."
Nick met his wolf, James three weeks ago.
"If you win, it will be seen as bullying because you have met your wolf and that alone gives you an upper hand " I explained hoping he gives up. Nick was pretty strong and I really didn't want to end up in the hospital.
"You are right " He said finally, giving me a defeated look. "I never knew you were this smart"
"You just weren't paying enough attention " I said and he smiled.
"I guess I will forget about it then "
"No. You can challenge someone else "
"Do you have anyone in mind? " he asked.
"Actually I do " I said without a second thought and drawing him closer, I whispered a name and the reason behind it.
His face lit up immediately.
"but Isn't that wrong? and he's bigger than me" he asked.
"No, it will be a fair fight. All you have to do is challenge him. If he accepts, you fight. If he declines, forget about it. Besides, we both know half the pack hates him for being a trouble maker. He's huge, but got a tiny brain. "
"How do you know about his brain size? "
"Just guessing " I said shrugging.
He laughed.
"Let's get going then "He gave in.
I smiled, rubbing my hands together.

I was laughing in the living room with Nick and the alpha, narrating what took place in the training grounds when an angry Evelyn barged in.
"How dare you two?!" she screamed, pointing her index finger only at me.
I thought she said 'two'
"Good day to you too " I said.
"How dare you beat up my boyfriend Nick?!!"
"and why did you you let him" she accused, shifting the position of her index finger from me to the alpha.
Now you all know why I chose Logan Stone. He's her boyfriend and I wanted revenge for what she did in the morning. Hated the guy too.
"It was a fair fight, your stupid boyfriend accepted the challenge and lost. All those muscles for nothing and stop pointing that finger at me if you still want to keep it." The alpha warned.
I burst into uncontrollable laughter. I couldn't hold it anymore.
"You!! " She snarled before matching upstairs.
"No one in this house cares about me! "
I couldn't have asked for anything better that night.
