Hi everyone, I hope you're fine!

A new chapter pretty short, I'm sorry. It must have been much longer, but since I make you wait, I decided to publish a part of it already.

The rest should be published soon enough!

Thank you all for your readings and votes! 😘

"Know if it should happen, I will not miss you this time," Hayden answers without even glancing at him, then she walks in the door and leaves.

Oliver observes Hayden walking down the street, through the bay window of his office, holding her daughter's hand. They are moving away gradually.

How could he be so stupid? To be surprised in this way. He, who thought he was in control of the situation now had to face the facts, he was cooked. He was close to the goal, Hayden was ready to fall back into his arms, but he had just spoiled everything. He should not have yielded to Jodie's advances. The man and his desires...

Once Hayden is out of sight, he can not help but be angry with himself. He feels rage rising in him and ready to explode.

"Damn it!" he yells, throwing all the files on Jodie's desk onto the floor. He puts his hands on the desk to support and breathes deeply. He must fix this bullshit.

"Excuse me, Dr. Thredson," Jodie's trembling voice disrupts this long silence, "I didn't know you were married."

He does not answer anything. He does not want to talk. He thinks of a plan, an excuse, to get Hayden back. He does not even know if she will forgive him for his misconduct. It was as if he had cheated on her. In truth, he cheated on her, he slept with Jodie. He feels no sense for this girl. She's just a distraction, a pawn.

"If I can," she continues, he hears the sound of her heels getting closer to him and a hand resting on his back and caressing him gently, "Now that your wife knows, we don't have to hide anymore, we could go back to where we left off."

Oliver turns back abruptly and puts a hand around her throat. His fingers tighten tightly, he tries to control his anger but he has only one desire, to silence her forever. How can she believe that she has any importance for him? She is nothing in his eyes.

"I love my wife!" he yells, his eyes dark, "If you believe for a moment that you represent something for me, you're wrong. You're nothing, you're just a pawn, a puppet I pull the strings. I'm using you, you're not will never reach the height of my wife, you are so pathetic."

A tear runs down her cheek. Oliver relaxes his grip and goes to his office as if nothing had happened. He puts on his black trench coat and carries a cigarette to his lips and lights it. He takes his car keys on the desk. He goes back to the waiting room. If he hurry, he should be at Hayden's home tonight, time to make the road.

"You go?" Jodie asks, her voice shaking.

"I'm going to fix your bullshit," he answers in an insignificant voice.

"So we meet tonight at your house?"

"No," he answers, "You're free, you do what you want, I don't need you anymore."

"So that's it? You're getting rid of me like that? Is it all over?"

"In order for everything to be over, there must have been something started," Oliver replies with a smirk. "However, it's not the case."

On these last words, he leaves the office and walks to his car. He pulls on his cigarette before opening the door and sitting in his car.

But what he does not know, is that behind the bay window of the office, a crying Jodie observes him, her fists clenched and determined to avenge herself on this profiteer.
