This marks the fifth time this week, and it's only Wednesday.
"For the last time, leave me alone, I am not joining Satan!" I say, I'm very irritated and just want to go get my medicine.
The demon in the ally hisses. "Aw, come on! You want to side with heaven? Or is it that you just want to keep pretending here on Earth with these pathetic humans? Forget about it! It's not like you belong in either place anyway!"
In a way, he was right.
I push my glasses up. "I said no."
The demon's eyes spark and he smiles eerily. "I guess you leave me no choice."
I sigh and sidestep as the demon leaps at me. It lands behind me, about to get up, but I kick it down without looking back. "Please don't hang around my apartment anymore," I say as I walk away to go pick up my medicine from the pharmacy.
"Come back here! Wait! Oh, you'll be sorry!" He calls as I mouth the words right along with him because I have heard it plenty times enough.
"Yeah, yeah..." Boy they're such a pain. I've had to deal with them for the past month or two. But lately, they've been coming more and more frequently, and I don't appreciate it.
"Hey, Peter!" My neighbor, Nick, calls to me. "How's it going? You still have those pests around?"
"More than ever," I say. Normal humans can't see the demons like me. I'm not sure what they see, whether it be rats, or just me yelling at nothing. It would be funny either way, them seeing me yelling at something, or nothing at all, about not joining Satan...
"Sorry to hear that. Also, how's your back doing?"
"I'm going to get my medication right now," I say and he smiles.
"Well, my wife and I are having a get together tonight, if you want to come, you're always welcome!"
I give a wave goodbye and say thanks.
I probably won't go. Nick has always been nice to me, but I just don't fit in. Never have, never will.
I make it to the pharmacy and I get my medicine. The pharmacist's smiles as she hands me the bag.
"There you go, Mr. Folland." She says with a smile. I can't tell if it's a I'm sorry smile, a I have to work another couple of hours smile, or a genuine smile. Either way, I just want to leave and go home.
I nod my thanks and leave. The Pharmacy is actually really close to my apartment, so I don't have to drive to get here. I could use the exercise.
I get back home and pop two pills in my mouth. I rub my back as I walk into the bathroom. I take off my shirt and look at my back in the mirror.
There's two large scars along either side of my spine. Injuries from two years ago. lately my scars have been dark, the veins around them turning greyish black. And boy, even now, it still hurts.
I put my shirt back on, and look at my face. I look a lot different from what I looked like two years ago. The main difference is my glasses. I still have the same black hair, the same dark blue eyes, although my vision is horrible now.
I walk over to my bed and lay down, staring at the ceiling. My apartment's a pretty good size. The only reason I don't have a house is because I'm on my own. I don't need all that space.
I sigh and close my eyes. I wonder what my department was up to. I was kicked out two years ago, too. let's just say that my life fell apart two years ago. I stepped out of line, got injured and kicked out. Fun, huh?
