Hey poets!!
Welcome to The Poet Awards 2018!
The Poet Awards is a contest focused mainly on poetry, ANY KIND of poetry. Anything from slam to rhyme to line break, you can enter. You can submit as many poems of yours as you want, and they can all be different kinds, or the same kind. Poems can qualify for multiple categories. We're so excited to work with you for this contest!
Categories:
Slam- a category for dramatic and theatrical works, meant to be read out loud but look just as good on paper
Rhyme-Scheme- for poems that work with the way words sound to make them match and weave into clever patterns
Single Verse (Ex: limericks or sonnets)- short but no less sweet, the length is the tip of the iceberg
Cultural (ex: haiku)- poetry styles from around the world
Narrative - poems that tell a story
Epic- poems that tell a LONG story with hero and such
Free Verse- experimental and modern sounding poems with a very artistic quality that need to rhyme scheme to be amazing
Line Break- Poems that don't rhyme or don't rhyme all the way through, but aren't slam. More focused on set up and meaning behind it.
Nature- poems that describe one of the best blessings we have been given, the natural world and all that is in it
Emotional- heartbreak, sorrow, extreme joy, you name it, it leaps off the page with dramatic language and self expression from the writer
Other- if not sure if your poems fit into any of those categories, or if you just don't like labels all that much, enter your poem here
The deadline is February 15. The rules will be posted in the next chapter and the submission forms in the third.
