xvi. you better be

Vanessa's POV

I OPENED my eyes and saw Axel sleeping beside me. I looked at my right side and figured out it's already evening. I suddenly remembered Eric.

'Is he awake?'

I should check his situation. He's still probably unconscious but . . . I still want to see him.

I carefully got up from my bed — trying not to wake up Axel. I glanced at him and smiled while he's sleeping. He's naked beneath the sheets that's why I pulled the comforter towards his chest and kissed his lips before I go out.

I was about to turn my back and head outside when I almost step on my fucking goddamn phone. Damn it! I looked back at Axel to check if I disturb his sleep and fucking gladly, he's still sleeping!

I'm not afraid to get caught, I just don't want to disturb his sleep. I know he got tired from what we did a while ago and besides . . . I really don't like disturbing other people's sleep.

Because I fucking know what it feels like. Tsk!

I took my phone on the floor. My forehead knotted while staring at it. It probably fell from the bed a while ago. If I am not mistaken, my phone was on the bed a while ago but I guess . . . it fell a few seconds after.

I dressed up and I'm still careful with my movements — scared to wake up my fiancé. I put my phone on my pocket before it rings again. It has been ringing even before Axel and I end up in bed. Tsk. Baka mamaya magising pa siya kapag tumunog ulit.

I slowly opened the door and closed it carefully — parang may pinagtataguan, nang makalabas ako. I went to Eric's room and saw Jamie sleeping on a chair beside Eric's bed.

She got startled when she saw me opening the door that's why she immediately stood up kahit inaantok pa.

"Q-Queen," gulat niyang saad.

I went beside her to take a closer look of Eric who's still unconscious.

"Wala pa rin siyang malay, Queen . . ." ani Jamie habang nakatingin din kay Eric.

Damn whoever shot him! I hope he's fucking burning in hell for what he did to my friend.

"I'm going to pay them for what they did to Eric." I heard Jamie which made me look at her.

"He's dead." I declared. She looked at me. "Axel killed him. He assured me. Patay na ang gumawa nito kay Eric."

Kumunot ang noo niya. "P-paano kayo nakakasiguro, Queen?" Tumaas ang tono niya sa 'kin na kaagad kong napansin.

"Are you doubting me, Salvador?" I hissed when I felt irritation in her tone while asking me.

Umiwas siya ng tingin. "Hindi sa g-gano'n, Queen pero . . ." she bit her lip. "It's probably an organization, Queen. Paano kung . . . paano kung hindi pa tapos ang lahat?"

What?

"Or what if . . . this is a trap? Or a warning?"

"You know the rules, Jamie. Once the leader is dead . . . everybody's dead." I stated in my cold tone.

That's the rule. Sa oras na mamatay ang pinuno ng isang organisasyon, kasabay niyang mamamatay ang organisasyon na binuo niya. They will have no right to fight and continue their doings because their leader is dead kaya para na rin silang namatay.

Unless . . . someone has the same power with the leader; probably passed the throne to someone else but that seems impossible. Everyone's greedy right now . . . walang magbabalak na magpasa ng kapangyarihan o trono sa ibang tao.
