Chapter One
Sky
I already knew I was dreaming, because it always started the same, the same clearing in the forest I couldn't place, and the same black eyes stalking me through the shadows, I knew they were there they always was, watching the dream unfold was disturbing all I could focus on where a pair of eyes, dark eyes the colour of the night sky. Looking at them I noticed they were focused on me and a shiver went through me, at the last moment I noticed a had reaching for me and I tried to move but realised that I couldn't. The hand was coming closer and closer and I couldn't move I started to scream.... then suddenly I was awake. Waking with a gasp I jumped out of bed, knowing if i fell asleep the dream would still be there, it always was.
Looking at the red lighted numbers on the alarm clock it was 6:15am, knowing there was no point trying to get anymore sleep I decided to put on a load of laundry before school, walking downstairs i noticed my aunt Eliza's bedroom door was open, which was unusual as she always insisted the door be closed as she didn't want me snooping around her things. It was no secret, everybody knew my aunt Eliza didn't want me living with her when my parents died, but she didn't really have much of a choice, she constantly liked to remind me how much of a burden I was.
Forgetting about my aunt and her horrible ways I started loading the laundry into the machine and added detergent and pressed the start button and heard the water rush into the machine. I poured myself a bowl of cereal and a glass of orange juice, demolishing both within five minutes because when I glanced at the clock on the wall the time was already 7:10am and within 10 minutes Kaye would be banging the door down and I needed to be ready. Running upstairs and into my room I pulled on my black skinny jeans, a purple tee and black knee high boots, I accessorised with a silver cross my parents gave me. Pulling my medium length dark brown hair into a messy but orderly bun and applying just a little mascara to my eyelashes I was ready to go.
Running towards the door I grabbed my backpack and door keys and shut the door behind me, I met Kaye down the drive way.
"Where's the fire?" she asked while smiling
"No fire, just wanted to see if I could actually beat you to my door this time" I replied
"So, ready for a bright new day?" she said grin streched from ear to ear
"Ever the optimistic arent you?" the sarcasim leaking through my voice in thick droves
"What's wrong with you this morning" Kaye asked noticing my tone
"Nothing, just a little tired, that's all"
"Was it the dream again?"
Kaye was the only person who knew about the black eyes haunting and stalking my dreams.
"Yeah, but this time it was different, this time there was a hand and it could actually touch me"
"Well dont it ruin your day, or mine, I had something i've been dying to tell you" Kaye said changing the subject
"Would that be the something that I had twenty-five miss calls for" already knowing it was
"Kyle Moore has finally asked me out, can you believe it?" she said jumping up and down
"Wow, when?"
"He phoned la---"
"No, Kaye when you going out" I said interupting
"Oh, well tonight, so I have to bail on our plans, is that okay" she said knowing I wouldnt say no. Kaye had liked Kyle years before I moved here and was all she talked about.
The whole subject of Kyletook up the fifteen minute walk to school, rriving at school I parked my car in twhen we arrived I noticed almost everyone was crowded around the administrators office. I wonder what's going on this time? I thought to myself making my way to my locker but found myself stopping as Kaye pulled me back
"What's going on over there, did Ms I hate teenager's finally crack?" Kaye asked a nearby guy everyone knew who she was talking about, Ms Winslow hated teenager's worse than she hated teaching them and the whole student population was hanging on for the day she finally resigns.
"Unfortunately she's still here, nope there'sa new guy and everyones trying to get a look." he replied without taking he's eyes of the crowd.
"Doesn't anyone have anything better to do in this school, than swoon over the new guy?" I asked walking away from the commotion
Arriving at my locker the first thing I noticed was my lock was broke again, this had to be the fourth time this year and the year had only just started. Looking through the locker I noticed nothing seem to have been taken.
"Can I put my stuff in your locker Kaye, someones bust the lock again"
"Sure, if you can fit it all in" she replied " Don't you think you should start reporting this now as I'm sure this is not the first time"
"What's the point, come on we better get to class before Mr Charles has an aneurysm, please tell me you've done the essay? I looked at Kaye know she either didn't do the essay or was going to copy it from someone during class knowing Mr Charles never collected before class always after.
"This ones going to shock ya, but yeah I've done the stupid essay. Had no choice it was either do the essay or no phone for a month, and there's no way I can go without my phone, it's attached to me" she told me with the cheekiest grin on her face and walked into class
Taking my seat next to Kaye, I noticed she was looking across the room, following her stare I glance to see a guy, Mr Charles called the class to attention, but I couldn't take my eyes of him, something about him was familiar and I didn't know why. I looked at him he had short black hair, black eyes and was dressed in black, something about him just screamed danger to me
"Miss Summer's if you would like to collect the essay's today" Mr Charles said pulling me back to reality just as the bell rang, everyone practically ran for the door, making their way to the next class.
I hadn't notice that I had stared at this new guy the whole lesson, but I also hoped no-one else noticed. But I knew I had to get to know him.
