"Uh, Izzy?" Asha asked hesitantly. She didn't want to say it in front of her mom and Quince. That would just be weird and her mom would start asking questions.
Isaza looked over at her niece. "Yes?"
"Uh, tu eres un lobo. Isaza." Asha was so glad her mother didn't know Spanish and that her sister only knew what Asha had told her.
"Si." Isaza repiled. "Come on. Zelia is waiting for us." Isaza said in English.
"Wait!" Asha suddenly yelled out as they were walking out. "I haven't finished my homework!" She explained.
"Bring it with you. You're not going to be listening to the conversation between Zelia and I. You can do it then." Isaza said. Asha nodded and headed upstairs again, this time to find get her homework. There was a brief silence. "Who's Zelia?" Quince asked, breaking the silence. Isaza laughed. "Oh, Zelia is just a friend of mine. I met her in Alaska." Which was partly true.
Zelia was a friend of Isaza's but she met her in the wolf pack. "But you've never been to Alaska.." Quince muttered quietly. Something didn't add up. Just then Asha came downstairs with her homework all in a Manila folder. "Come on." Asha urged her aunt. Then she headed out the door, with Isaza following behind her.Isaza lead Asha to the park near her house and sat down on a picnic table. "Zelia and the others should be here shortly." She informed Asha, who sat down on the opposite side. Asha nodded and went back to her Spanish Homework.
After a little while, the girl looked up. "When I'm speaking to you would it be informal or formal?" Asha asked. Isaza smiled. "I had a trick for figuring that out when I was struggling with it. You need to answer 4 questions." Asha looked up again.
"And they are..?" She prompted, pencil poised on the paper that she was writing.
"First, first name or not?"
"First name."
"Second, older or younger?"
"Older."
"Third, family or not?"
"Family."
"And fourth, do you know me personally or do I know you personally?" Asha thought for a minute and then said,
"We both know each other."
"Okay. From that information, what can you gather?" Isaza asked her niece. Asha looked up a third time and stared at Isaza. "That I should be talking to you informally because even though you're older than me and part of my family, I'm on a first name basis with you and we both know each personally." Asha repiled.
"Yes, very good. Now what's th-" Isaza was cut off by another, kind- of familiar voice."Excuse me. Sorry to interrupt Isaza, but I have the report on the Black Wolves." Isaza and Asha both looked up to see a young woman, about 20 years old with dyed smoky gray hair, light colored skin and teal eyes.
There were about 4 other people behind her, two females and two males.
A young female with one amber eye and one green one, light brown skin and dark brown hair.
A male with light brown skin and darker brown hair with hazel eyes.
A female with stark black hair which was pulled back in a bun, startling light blue eyes and peach colored skin.
And a male with short strawberry blonde hair, forest green eyes and light skin."Zelia." Isaza said, and rose gracefully from the picnic bench. "Isaza..and Asha." Zelia looked at Asha with surprise. "This is Shelia," Zelia waved her hand in the direction of the female with the amber and green eyes. "Zaren," The hand waved in the direction of the hazel eyed, dark brown haired guy. "Mist," the black haired, light blue eyed woman. "And finally, Sky." Zelia finished. He was the guy with the strawberry blonde hair and forest green eyes.
Sheila waved at Asha, who waved back. "Hi. My name is Shelia. I'm the Head Scout of Pack Cazador! What's your ranking?" Shelia said, going over to stand by Asha.
"Uh, my ranking is Isaza's niece who has finished her Spanish Homework and is now struggling with Math Homework." Asha replied, looking up at Shelia.
"Cool. Math is hard..I'm so glad I'm not in school anymore.""Shelia, Mist, Sky, can you tell Isaza what we found out?" Zelia said sternly. Shelia frowned and moved back beside Mist and Sky to talk to Isaza.
Isaza listened carefully to what Mist, Sky and Shelia were saying. They had moved away from Asha, who was doing homework. They had also moved away from Zaren and Zelia who were discussing the amount of food in the food stock, to the shade of a small oak tree.
"The Black Wolves are searching for another wolf by the name of Storm. According to them, and my awesome ears," Mist flicked her ears back proudly and continued. "Storm was looking for a white wolf named Hope, when Storm disappeared somewhere in our territory." "But what was Storm doing in our territory in the first place?" Isaza asked. Mist sighed. "I told you, looking for a wolf named Hope."
Hope..and Storm? Those were the names of Isaza's younger sister and mother. This couldn't be a coincidence. Storm the black wolf was looking for Hope the white wolf in Pack Cazador's territory. This reminded Isaza the conversation of 10 years ago right before her sister had died..
Flashback
The rain was pouring down on Isaza's fur as she ran towards Pack Cazador through the woods. The rain was wet and making it hard for Isaza to see. She could barely see herself, much less the scenery around her. But she had to get to Cazador. Her sister was there and she needed Isaza. Isaza focused on that as she weaved around a log that was getting washed away by the rain. This wasn't just rain, it was a storm.
Isaza reached the beginning of Cazador territory, where the regular woods ended and ran underneath a small bush that, in a few minutes got swept away. Isaza ran for the tunnel desperately but another wolf blocked her way. Storm. Her mother.
"Storm." Isaza growled.
Storm growled back. "Isaza." She spat.
"What are you doing here?" Isaza asked, her ears back.
"Looking for Hope." Storm replied.
"So am I. But she doesn't trust you anymore. Neither do I."
"Isaza I know you hate me. But I came to gave you two a warning."
"Which is?"
"Do not trust the Alpha, Izzy! She is not who you think she is!" Desperation clung to her mother's voice and Isaza noticed that when she said her next words.
"Your not who I thought you were either mother. You sided with the Black Wolves! The bad ones."
Storm flicked her tail and then said, "No, Isaza. I sided with the right ones." Then she walked away, leaving Isaza to think about what she had said.End of Flashback.
Mist spoke next. "And um, there was more." She looked around quickly, like this was bad. "Two white wolves were talking with the black wolves about Storm and Hope. To help find them." Mist curled a strand of stray hair around her finger. "The two wolves were.." Isaza prompted. "Well one of them was the Lead Warrior, which isn't that bad..but the other one.."
What Mist said next made Isaza's blood freeze. "The other one was the Alpha."
