Josh left for work shortly after breakfast and said he'd be off by 5p.m but he was going to go see someone about something work related. He also told me to call when I was ready for him to come get me.

I didn't really have anything to do so I just started doing chores. First I cleaned up the kitchen from breakfast and washed the dishes. After that I started on the living room. I dusted the pictures along the walls and wiped the desk on the far side of the room and the tv stand down with pledge. I didn't bother to vaccum because we rarely use the living room, unless we have guest.

As I finished with the desk, I noticed a book sitting in one of the open cubbies lining the it. The book looked brand new. A perfectly, untouched leather cover with a unique marking on its side. Below the mark was the name. The Book of Night. It sounded interesting.

I picked it up and there was beautiful white, gold, and purple designs showering the black leather. In bold letters Book of Night was printed near the top. Right below that was regina hostium, whatever that means.  I tried to open it but then realized had a lock. The lock was an odd star shape. I wondered if it was Josh's. He loved to read and liked to keep some things hidden.

I was about to put the book back when I saw a letter where it use to be. My name was written across it so I opened it.

        "Zoey Lenn,

This is for you, I hoped to get it to you sooner but alas I was delayed by some... Unfinished business. I will see you soon.

                         Yours in eternity,

                             -E.B."

What the? This book is for me? What's regina hostium? Wait... This book is meant for me but I don't even get the key to open it? So many questions swurled in my head until I could only think of one thing. Who was E.B?

I stood there trying to figure out who E.B. was but I couldn't think of anyone I knew that could possibly be called E.B. I'll just ask Josh about it when he gets home.

I slipped the letter into the book and started to carry it back to my room when I heard a loud bang come from the laundry room at the rear end of the house. I slowly made my way through the kitchen and down the hall towards the backdoor and laundry room. It felt like my heart was ramming against my ribs, trying its best to escape its fleshy prison.

I took a step closer to the end of the hall, then I heard another noise come from around the corner. I froze. I was suppose to be home alone, what if someone broke in... If someone was breaking in, what would I do? Tell them to leave? No, but I couldn't just stand here either. I stepped closer. I was mere inches away from the room. One more step and nothing would be in my way except the corner right infront of the door to the left of the laundry room.

I took the final step and out of the corner of my eye, I saw something moving. I jumped and spun around to see what it was... 'Dang, I was scared for nothing!' I thought to myself when I realized it was just my cat, Luna. She must have tried to jump onto the washing machine and knocked something over.

When I looked at the floor, sure enough, the pet supplies were lying infront of Luna, who sat on the floor looking happy and innocent as ever.

"You silly cat!" I said picking up the pet shampoo and brushes with one hand and scooping up Luna with the other.

I put her outside and went to my room to find somewhere to put my new book. My book shelves were packed with all my favorite books and my desk was covered with my laptop, school papers,  and more books. Knowing me, I wasn't going to find somewhere neat to put it so I just laid it on top of the mountain of notebooks forming on my desk.

When I finally looked at the time, it was 1pm! Gosh! Where did the time go? I've barely done anything! I wonder how long I was standing in the living room... I didn't know.

Well it's already past lunch' but I need to eat something. I walked to the kitchen and made a salad. I wasn't very hungry, which is weird... I'm normally always hungry. I took a bite of my salad and it didn't taste right. I wanted to spit it out but I knew Josh would kill me for wasting food.

After I ate, I decided to read one of the books I started last week. I was about half way through the book (Hush, Hush). I loved reading! I don't see how Lindsey could possibly think it's boring! Getting sucked into an adventure about all these things you can't experience in real life. It's like an escape from reality into your own little world. My escape are books about angels and vampires and...Everything people say don't exist. It's like magic! (Romantic angel books are my favorite!)

I finished it a few hours later. It was about 4 o'clock, so I decided to get a shower and start getting ready.
