I did my hair and makeup before calling Josh. By now it was around 6p.m.

The first time I called he didn't answer, which is strange. He always answer my phone calls. I called again and again, still no answer. Now I'm getting worried. This never happens! Suddenly, I heard the front door open, then slam shut.

"Zoey! Zoey Lenn, where are you!?" I recognized that voice. It was Josh!

"Yeah I'm in my room! What's wrong?" I walked out of my room and he was running towards me. He basicly tackled me in a hug! I was knocked into the wall right behind me! "Josh, what's wrong? I called you and you never answered! What happened!?" I just realized he was really cut up and bleeding. Blood coated his shirt and the left side of his face.

"Zo, have you been here alone all day? No one came by or you never left or anything?"

"Why does it matter! What happened!"

"It matters! Now tell me!" He sounded very angry now.

"No, I've been here the whole time and no one's come by that I've noticed, now tell me what happened." I stared into his eyes, I couldn't believe how bad he looked. He was so badly beaten, It pained me to look, but I couldn't look away. I know he gets into fight often but never like this.

"Zoey, you're no longer safe here. I'll explain later, but right now we need to get to the party and find Eric. He'll help us." I was so confused. I'm not safe here?

"Josh, what the heck are you talking about? And who's Eric?" I shouted at him. I've never done that before, but I couldn't control myself anymore! There was something he's not telling me and I'm determined to find out what. He looked at me, really looked at me, and his eyes filled with regret and.. something else... I'd never seen that look before.

"I haven't been honest with you...  There are some things I haven't told you and I'm sorry but right now isn't a good time to begin it up. As soon as I get Eric and we find a safe place to stay, I'll explain everything. I promise." With that, he grabbed my hand and pulled me down the hallway and outside to the car. I didn't know what was going on or what was going to happen but it wasn't good.

We drove almost an hour and a half when we finaly reached a house way out in the country. Cars were parked all over the yard and down the dirt road. Loud music seemed to blare out of the walls and low light poured out of the windows. The house was also surrounded by woods, pretty much cut off from the rest of the world.

We approached the house and a man was standing at the door. He was tall and lean with long dark hair that covered most of his face. His shirt looked ripped along with his jeans, but somehow it look right on him.

As soon as the guy saw us, a large grin appealed on his face, but was gone just as fast when we walked into the light. I suppose he noticed the blood and gashes on Josh.

"Eric, they know she's here. We have to leave now." Josh spoke in a low tone, but making sure we were the only ones that could hear him.

"How did they find us?" Eric looked at me, all I saw was fear and confusion.

"I'm not sure but-" Josh started to speak but I cut him off "What the heck do you mean we have to leave and why does it matter if someone knows I'm here!?"

Eric placed his hand on my shoulder and turned me to face him. "Zoey Lenn, it's really complicated and we will explain everything to you when we are safe, I swear" then he bowed his head slightly and turned to Josh again. "We need to leave immediately."

I just stood there, staring at this man, this stranger, talking to me as if he's known me my whole life. I may have just met him, but he looks oddly familiar. His black hair, his broad shoulders, even his pale blue eyes. I couldn't figure out if I'd seen him somewhere before or if maybe I met him. I just don't know.
