For a while, nothing odd happened. Then she started noticing blurry outlines of imaginary creatures around the house and in the field. Faeries, horses, the Sandman, the Tooth Fairy, even a dragon were sharing her residence.
Aviva tried to ignore them, but instead of going away, the creatures became more vivid in color, and more solid and clear.
"Navin," she asked one day, "Can you see these creatures?"
"You can see them!" Navin clapped his hands in delight. "They're my friends! At first they were my invisible friends, but now I can see them!"
"Yes, well, okay." Aviva stammered. How can I tell him to make them go away when he views them as his friends?
And so she lived in harmony with the Figments, as she called the fanciful creatures. She tried to talk to some of them, and to her surprise, they responded. Aviva enjoyed many delightful conversations with intriguing creatures.
They also started out blurry, and then became clearer. She assumed it was because Navin was able to picture them more clearly after a period of time.
Aviva tried to make sure Navin only focused on positive things, but every once in awhile, he would imagine a Nightmare.
