A/N- The song above is the one the inspired me to write the book. I'm not going to lie but this song is so motivational. I hope you enjoy this chapter.

Chapter 1- Mr Laker

Laila's POV 👑

Waking up at 6am every morning is not what I look forward to every day but unfortunately it's my only option if I want to leave the house at all because if I stay later than 6:30 then my folks will wake up and trust me when I tell you that they do not like to be woken up. They always come home late from work so I don't get to see them often and when I do they are always cranky from their jobs as they start at about 3pm and finish at 3am. So if I don't want to risk their wrath because I woke them up, then I have to make sacrifices and I lose my beauty sleep. Well, it's not like the sleep I would normally get makes me beautiful but a girl can dream.

Also, I work at a bakery before school so if I don't want to be fired, I have to be there before 7:00 and my shift finishes at 8:45 leaving me 15 minuets before school starts. It's a good thing that the school is opposite to the bakery or I would never make it in time.

My brain is literally a virtual time table, everything has to be ordered at a certain time, a certain day and to a certain thing and no, I do not have OCD, I am just a very organised person and things have to be done when the minute ends in a 0 or a 5 and this makes sure that I have limits.

I run towards the bathroom and hop into the shower to be hit with freezing cold water pounding against my face. I jump backwards to stop myself from becoming any colder so I slowly wait a few minuted until the water gets warm and then after 5 minuets I get out.

Now and I can imagine you with your jaw 10 meters below your face. You must be thinking "What species of female can shower in 5 minutes?" First of all, cut out the stereotypes because I am no ordinary girl. And secondly, I would love to stay in the warm shower for about 10 minuets longer but then if I do, my parents will be awake because of the sound of the shower running.

By the time 6:30 rolls around, I'm rushing down the stairs to get some food into my stomach. I open the fridge to see a mouldy banana and a pot of yogurt that expired two years ago. I decide to get breakfast at the bakery before my shift starts and I check my purse to find that I have $5 bill. That's enough to get me a bagel with cream cheese and a coffee but not anyone else, it's the perks of working at the best bakery / cafe in town.

Normally I have a bit more money but I had to buy a new scientific calculator because I accidentally dropped my old one in the toilet and I refused to use it. Don't look at me like you have never gotten home from school and the minute you walk through the door, you feel like you are going to pee your pants and you take your bag in the bathroom because you are concentrated too much on holding your pee that you forgot to take it off and something accidentally falls out of your bag because you are too stupid and forget to close it. Don't deny it. I know it's true. Maybe not. Fine but don't act like you have never dropped your phone in the toilet because that is way more likely to happen.

I get pulled out of my thoughts when I hear the beeping of the fridge door because it has been open for too long. I curse under my breath knowing that my parents probably heard it and will be waking up soon enough. I quickly grab my school bag and rush out of the house before I am spotted and plug in my headphones and set my playlist to shuffle. The song 'Human' by Rag'n'Bone Man plays and I internally high five myself. Who doesn't want such a motivational song and the first thing they hear in the morning?

I arrive at the bakery 15 minuets before my shift starts and I order my bagel and coffee. I sit myself down in a small booth in the corner of the shop and peer out of the window, watching the world go by while slowly sipping on my coffee. I unlock my phone to look at the time and realise that I need to start work. I walk behind the counter and put my money in the till then walk through a door that says 'private'. I am met with something that looks similar to the locker rooms at school and grab my apron and tie it around my waist, not before pinning my name tag on to my shirt.
