We all sat in the waiting room of the hospital, waiting on news about Monica. Fiona walked in, passing out our coffees to us.

"You reach Ian?" She asked.

"I texted him. Carl?" Lip asked, taking his and my coffee from Fiona and handing me mine and then handing Debbie hers.

"Called the school, said they're gonna try to get him on a train tonight." Fiona said.

It got quiet and I stared into space.

"She look dead to you?" Lip asked.

Fiona turned and then quickly sat down. "I only saw her for a second when they were putting her in the ambulance."

"She shit herself?" Kev asked.

She looked at him.

"People shit themselves when they die." Kev said. "That's why they put diapers on psycho killers before they give 'em lethal injection."

"I touched her when they put her in the ambulance. She was still warm." Debbie said.

"Could have still been dead. Body only loses a couple degrees of heat an hour after you kick it." Kev informed us.

"Really?" Debbie asked.

"Lots of the things in the body are still alive. Hair, skin, the nails, all the bacteria in your guts. And you don't start to well up for a least a couple days and then your eyes pop out, skin falls off, then you explode." Kev said.

"Kev." V called.

"What?" Kev asked.

It got quiet and I felt my phone buzz. Pulling it from my pocket, I looked at it to see another text from Scott.

"Still won't stop?" Lip asked quietly.

I turned to look at him and nodded. His arm went around the back of the chair I was in.

"Gallagher?" A lady asked, walking up with a clipboard.

Fiona, Lip, and Debbie stood up and walked over to her.

"Dr. Caughey. Monica your mother?" The lady asked.

"Yeah. Um, Fiona. Philip and Debbie." Fiona introduced them.

"Your mother came in unresponsive. We made every attempt to revive her but we were unsuccessful." The doctor said.

They stood there quietly.

"So she's dead?" Fiona asked.

"Yes." The doctor nodded.

"Drug overdose?" Lip asked.

"No, uh, she died from a massive cerebral hemorrhage." The doctor said.

They got quiet again.

"A blood vessel in her brain burst." The doctor simplified. "Would you like to see her?"

"I would." Debbie said.

"Okay, sure." Fiona said.

"Give us a few minutes and we'll bring you back." The doctor said before walking away.

"Where's Frank?" Fiona asked.

"Outside still, I think." Debbie told her.

"I'll go get him." Lip said.

Fiona stopped him.

"No. I'll do it." She said quickly.

They stepped back into the room, Fiona leaving soon after. After a bit we were back at the Gallaghers. All of us were in the kitchen.
