Kelsey rolls her eyes at the boy's arrogance and returns her focus to her work.

"And your name is..."

"Kelsey, Kelsey Cooper." The girl said mocking the way he introduced himself.

"Ah, pretty name for a pretty girl." He smiled. It was once of those arrogant, 'I'm attractive and I know it' smiles. This made Kelsey role her eyes once more.

"You know a 'thank you' would be nice." Billy said.

"Yeah and a 'I'm sorry for almost making you crash your car this morning' would be nice too but we don't always get what we want now do we." She sassily replied. "Now if you'll excuse me, I'm getting back to my work now."

"Mm a feisty one aren't you." He laughed and licked his lips.

Kelsey sighs in annoyance. "You know, you should start your notes too if you care about your grade in this class."

"Well good thing I don't. I'd rather admire you anyways." He smirked and Kelsey scoffed. He found it amusing that he got under her skin so easily and they'd barely met.

"Mr. Hargrove, I know you're trying to get to know your classmates but you can save that for another time. Please pay attention." Kelsey silently thanked God for her teacher saving her from any more obnoxious remarks from the mullet boy.

Billy rolled his eyes and grabbed a beaten up notebook from his ripped backpack to make it look like he was doing something.

The rest of the class was tolerable because luckily, Billy fell asleep so Kelsey was able to pay attention to the content.

The bell rang and Kelsey got up swiftly and gracefully walked out of class to meet her friend Natalie. Billy was startled by the bell but was able to catch a glimpse of Kelsey leaving, specifically a glimpse of her ass, which he thought was nice.

It was now the last period of the day. Kelsey and Natalie were on the cheer team so cheer was their last period. Kelsey and Nat were changing in the locker room when they heard all the gossip about the "new kid."

"He's so dreamy. I heard he got expelled from his last school for having sex behind the bleachers at a school event."

"I heard it was for drugs."

"Whatever, doesn't change the fact that he's a total babe with a nice ass."

The comments were followed with giggles and Kelsey was disgusted. From what she knows, the new kid is a stuck up jerk. And she doesn't care to know any more.

Kelsey and Natalie were changed into their practice clothes which consisted of their Hawkins High cheer shirts and a pair of short, tight shorts that matched the top. They walked out into the gym to start stretching. With Kelsey's luck of course, sixth period PE happened to be in the gym today too. This meant that all the boys would be staring at all the girls in their short shorts and tight shirts, specifically Kelsey.

The girls did their best to ignore the inappropriate comments and wolf whistles and talked amongst themselves.

Across the gym, Billy Hargrove and a popular boy named James and a few other guys were talking as well.

"Yeah Carol's hot and all and is down for anything but I got my eyes on Kelsey" one of the jocks said.

"Kelsey Cooper? Yeah she's something. She has the best body out of all the girls and she's only a junior" another said.

Billy joined in the conversation, "She's a junior? Sure doesn't look like one."

"Ooh, Hargrove's already got his eyes on prey? Good luck with her, she's hard to get" James said.

Billy challenged, "we'll see about that."

"Have you met her yet?" One asked.

"She's in my math class, wasn't too nice to me" he chuckled.

"Yeah she's very uptight. She takes school really seriously and she's a major perfectionist. She very rarely parties and if she does you won't ever catch her with a drop of alcohol. She's your stereotypical good girl" James explained.

"How do you know all this?" Billy questioned.

"Our boy James here used to date her. They were together for a solid three months until he tried to get into her pants and she wouldn't have it." They all chuckled and this, for some reason, sort of angered Billy. The way they talked about her with so little respect made Billy feel some sort of sympathy towards the girl. Usually he would agree with the guys but with Kelsey, it was different, she was different. He was intrigued by her and he wanted to get to know her more and he had no idea why.

Across the gym, Kelsey was grabbing a drink of water when she spotted Billy, with no shirt. She wasn't going to lie, he had a nice body. She was staring for a little too long and her name was called over to the cheerleaders. She scolded herself for her toxic thoughts and got back into cheering.

It was now the end of the school day and Kelsey was waiting for her brother, Corey. She didn't take Natalie home because her mom always picked her up, she only took her in the mornings.

Kelsey was leaning up against the hood of her car with her sunglasses on. The sun's rays were projecting onto her skin, giving the effect that Kelsey was glowing.

Billy was staring at her from his spot while he was waiting for his stepsister, Max, to arrive. He was getting impatient and irritated because Max was late. A few moments later, the red-headed girl came sprinting out of the school.

"You're late." Billy said in a cruel tone.

"I know I'm sorry."

"You know what happens when you're not here on time, you skate home." His voice was starting to rise, bringing Kelsey's attention to the scene.

"I know I'm sorry, it won't happen again."

"You're damn right it won't. Now get in the car."

Max lowered her head in shame and got in the car. Billy roughly opened the door and entered like a storm. He immediately drove away with "Wango Tango" by Ted Nugent blaring through the rolled down windows.

Kelsey's attention was still on the duo as they sped out of the parking lot in the dark Camero. In that moment Kelsey thought to herself, she wanted to know what was hiding under the hard, dark surface of Billy Hargrove.
