It was inching closer to 5:00 as Kelsey was, for some reason, making sure she looked good.
She re-did her hair three times now and touched up her makeup. She didn't know why she was so worried about her appearance for some guy who she barely knows, and already doesn't like.
She spritzed some perfume and checked for any food in her teeth. It was 4:45 so she decided to use her spare time to start other homework.
Time flew and before she knew it, a car horn honked signaling for her to leave. She rushed downstairs and grabbed her backpack on the way.
"Kels where are you going?" Her mom sweetly asked.
"Working on a project with someone. Gotta go love you."
She lightly jogged towards the dark and dreamy Camero to be met with and surprisingly handsome Billy.
"Hey sweets. Ready to go?"
"Um yeah. Do you mind if we go to that little cafe off of 5th street? That's where I usually go to study and I could use some coffee." She asked innocently.
"Anything for the princess." He smiled and roughly started his car down the street.
"Oh and can you please stop with the pet names? This isn't anything more than two peers working on a group project. My name is Kelsey, nothing different."
"If that's what you want gorgeous. Can I at least call you Kels?"
"Uhm, yeah. Sure I guess." She reminisced on the old nickname that friends from back home called her. Her parents would call her that too but ever since she had to move, she matured and started telling people to call her by her full name. Not a nickname of her childish, mischievous past.
If you haven't caught on, Hawkins, Indiana isn't Kelsey's home town. She was born and raised in the upper east side of New York. It was hard for her to make the change from a ritzy lifestyle to a quiet one. She was, and still is, the most popular girl of her school but she wasn't like the stereotypical "popular bitch." She was actually down to earth and sweet. After moving to Indiana, she decided that it was time to mature and focus on school instead of boys and other things. Let's just say that she's a totally different girl now compared to her wild freshman self.
"Round and Round" by Ratt began playing on the radio and Billy and Kelsey both reached to turn it up. Their hands touched and Kelsey immediately pulled a way. She looked at him and he was already looking at her. He smirked at her. He knew that in that moment, he made her nervous, and he liked that.
"You like this band?" He asked.
"Love them. I have their "Out of the Cellar" tour poster hanging in my room." She lightly laughed.
"Really? I didn't think a girl like you would listen to stuff like this."
"What do you mean 'a girl like me'?"
