I regained consciousness to find myself lying on the ground in the middle of a clearing. I peeked through my lashes, and could see each blade of grass. Until that point it was as if my sight had been the buzz on a broken television screen, but in that moment it was turned into a high definition production. I almost fainted, again.
"Is she up?" a female voice asked. These were definitely not the people I had approached before.
"Let's find out," another, more feminine voice said with a slightly teasing tone.
"Alwyn, you have already given her a taste of what you can do. I think we should give her a few more minutes, before you do anything," the first voice said.
"Oh you're no fun," the one called Alwyn replied grumpily.
I told myself that it was better to get things over with before it was too late, and so I opened my eyes and found myself in the middle of a perfectly formed circle of people.
"I told you, Alwyn." the first stated.
I looked in the direction of where the voice came from and was surprised with what I saw. It was a slender girl with defined muscles, and her skin a flawless bronze, as if she had been on the beach for a decent amount of time. Her face was shaped perfectly for her body, and her eyes were an astonishing silver colour, framed in long black lashes, while her hair was a dark chocolate and tucked into a messy bun. It was possible that anyone who stood beside her would be considered ugly.
"Hello, Evelyn." the stunning girl said, "I know you're probably freaking out right now, but let us explain before you do anything rash. My name is Nina, and this is the always lovely Alwyn." When she began speaking of the one named Alwyn she seemed to be sarcastic.
I looked at the person beside Nina noticed she was just as beautiful, but in a different way. She had the same kind of physique but everything else was different. Her skin was like porcelain, white and flawless with freckles placed with precision, but her cheeks were flushed red. Her eyes were the colour between navy blue and dark purple, and her hair was the colour of a raven's feathers. It was cut short, but it framed her face perfectly. Despite the fact that anyone standing beside Nina would be conceived as unattractive it was quite the reverse in this case. They complemented each other, just like opposites, like black and white.
"Hey, I'm Alwyn," she said as she stuck her hand out for me to shake.
I attempted to lift myself to my knees only to have them buckle under my again.
"I don't think that is a good idea," Nina said.
Alwyn pulled her hand away frowning, "Oh c'mon Nina, it's not like I can't control it." My eyebrows knit together in a puzzled manner. Nina simply ignored the statement.
"I know you are confused Evelyn, but could you hold on for one second before I tell you the whole story?" Nina asked. Three people sighed.
Nina was watching me, analyzing, and waiting for a response. I nodded then, realizing again, that I was in the center of a big circle of people, all of whom were looking at me.
"Okay, I'll introduce you to everyone and umm... no, were still waiting for someone. Have you heard from Marcus? No? Okay, so I guess I will tell you the story first, yes, that will be easier." Nina thought out loud. "Here we go, everyone get comfy." Nina said in a tone more warning than anything else.
Everyone seemed to stay in the same position, actually, I believe all but one of them did not even blink. Nina's eyes focused in on me. I felt trapped within my own skin. I felt like I was in a trance that could not be broken. Nina's mouth opened and suddenly everything seemed to darken.
