Chapter Three: Where'd She Go?

My eyes split open and I looked around. Luna was cuddled next to me, asleep. She looked so peaceful, I hated to wake her up. I didn't know what was planned for today, so I decided I better wake her. I shook her shoulder, and her eyes slowly opened, readjusting to the light.

"Morning, Sunshine." I knew it was cheesy, but I wasn't exactly sure what we were, so I wanted to try and make it clear.

"I'm glad you woke me up, the Narwhals almost got to me."

I laughed. "I think you're safe. Especially in my arms" I'm not exactly sure where she stands on the thought of "us" I decided to find out where we stand. "Luna, last night, I told you things I've never told anyone."

She smiled, bright enough to blind the sun.

"I know. You can trust me, I've got no one to tell anyway."

"I trust you, Luna. Wholeheartedly....I just don't know."

"Well, while you sort this out, I'm gonna go for a walk."

She got up, and headed for the door. I was going to go with her, but then decided to check on my Mom instead. I walked into the kitchen, just in time to hear the front door shut and see a sliver of blonde hair through the faded screen. I turn around and see Mom having breakfast with Luna's Father. I cleared my throat, and spoke.

"Ah-Hem....I just wanted to say, urm....Thanks Mr. Lovegood for letting us stay here, it was very generous of you."

"Ah, call me Xenophilius. It was no trouble. We don't get much for company out here. As amazing as my Luna is she's not one for making friends." He sighed. I suddenly realized how stressed he looked.

"Demi, We've talked a bit...and maybe we should stay here a bit. Just until your concert. I want to learn a few things from this wise man."

On the one hand, my mind immediately fluttered to the thought of being around Luna, but secondly I still didn't even know why I was staying here anway! I've barely heard any of the story.

"Right, well...um...Mom, can I tell you something?"

This was it. I've decided. I'm gonna tell my Mom about my everlasting love for the girl I just met and hope for the best she accepts me. I couldn't imagine life without my Mother.

"Of course, darling. You can tell me anything. You know that!" She kissed my head and Xenophilius pulled a chair out for me. I sat.

"Well...I'm not sure if you know this or not. I mean you obviously know, I mean..." I was muttering like crazy, Mom took my hands, and rubbed them, immediately calming me down. I began again, this time a bit more in control. I decided to get it all out at once, I looked down, took a deep breath and spoke.

"Mom, I'm in love. But not with a boy. I know I've only met her, and it seems hard to handle, but Luna is the love of my life. I never want to let her go. She sees thinks no one else does. She gets me...she just." By this time I was sobbing, and the lack of oxygen supply to my lungs wasn't helping.

"Shhh....It's okay, Demi. Take a deep breath and calm down." I did so. "I've known you were bisexual, at least, for a while now. It's obvious. It is a bit crazy, that you've just met Luna and all, but I trust you to recognize true love. I think someone like her is exactly what you need right now."

I looked up, and for one of the first times ever, I smiled. A real smile. Then I realized Luna's Father was sitting a foot away from me, and hasn't said a word. My direction focused on him, and I found him with a delighted expression on his face. I was a bit confused, to be honest. There was no disgust, no hatred, nothing. It was as if he cared for like his own. It was amazing. Finally he spoke.

"I've alway known my Luna was meant for someone."

Suddenly I heard a scream. A bloodcurdling, earth-shattering, ground-braking, scream. It was Luna's. I got up from my chair, ran through the front door and into the garden, but I couldn't see her.

"Luna! Luna! Where are you?!?" I was screaming through my sobs.

One final thought went through my mind. How could I have let her go?

And that thought ringing in my head, was followed by a sharp pain in the back of my skull, my feet collapsing, my vision blurring, and everything went black.
