AUNIKA
I hate this game, I hate Fabian for setting this up, I hate everything right now. "What a bore," I muttered from my hiding spot. I had decided that a low branch on a tree with enough leaves would be the perfect place to hide while keeping up the regular human girl charade. Groaning as quietly as I could, I peeked out from the cluster of leaves. Catching a glimpse of Gregory running across the baseball field, Fabian not far behind, caused me to grin. I found it amusing to watch as the two tried to outwit each other. Eventually, Fabian tackled Gregory to the ground and the two of them wrestled like chickens in the sand. I was so focused on them that I hadn't heard, smelled, or so much as sensed when someone ducked behind a nearby shrub. It wasn't until they had sneezed that I was aware of their presence.
"Bless you," I murmured bitterly for letting myself get startled by a harmless human. I wasn't intending for her to hear me.
Evangeline whipped around and scanned the ground for the origin of the voice. It's too bad I was so cleverly hidden, she couldn't find me and began to panic a little. Was she questioning her sanity maybe? She cursed silently and returned to hiding.
Fabian and Gregory split up and Gregory had been coming in our direction. Evangeline began to fidget around nervously, seeming to pray that Gregory would just pass her by. He didn't. As he began to pick through the bushes. I snapped a twig loudly and tossed it at his head, revealing my location. I, not very gracefully, jumped from the tree, stumbling only a few a lot before taunting Gregory. He laughed and came to chase after me. Looking back only once I caught Evangeline's gaze. She seemed thankful, and only mildly confused. I laughed and continued to run, easily out doing Gregory. He panted and groaned behind me before finally giving up and collapsing onto the ground.
"For the love of God!" He said, exhaling loudly. I watched with a smirk as his chest rose and fell. "What the hell, Quick Silver, cut me some slack! Jeez, not even coach pushes me this hard," Gregory continued to complain. Then he stopped.
"What..?" I asked. He shook his head and sat up. "No... nothing." Fabian's scent came from behind me.
Shit. Just my luck.
I kept my eyes on Greg. I couldn't cheat and escape Fabian. Unfortunately, I had to let him tag me. I laughed at Greg and then Fabian clotheslines me from behind.
"Caught cha!"
I will tell you now. It must have take a thousand angels to keep me from lashing out at him in that instant. Why were boys so rough?! HE COULD HAVE JUST TAGGED ME!
"Hahaha," I laughed a little rigidly. "Alright you got me..."
"Divide and conquer, guys. There are still two girls left."
Allowing a yawn to escape my mouth, I looked directly at Evangeline. Her eyes pleaded with me not to reveal her location. And so, I didn't. I turned around and pretended as if nothing had happened, walked all the way over to the other side of the park, and slipped into the forestry. A smirk tugged at my lips as I soundlessly walked up behind Evangeline and watched her cautiously peer out of the shrub she was hiding behind. Kneeling down to sit beside her, my knee bushed against her arm. And, uh... well, she punched me in the face.
She gasped and covered her mouth with wide eyes.
My expression remained emotionless it hadn't really hurt, she was rather weak. But then I realized that I was normal and grabbed my nose carefully, closing my eyes as if I were holding in a scream.
"I'm so sorry!" She whispered. "I didn't mean to punch you, it was a reflex!"
I pretended to ease the pain away and then looked up at her and faked a small smile.
"It's alright, I don't-"
SHIT!
I covered my nose and held my eyes shut. Now I was in real pain. What in the actual fuck was wrong with me? With this girl!? Sometimes I could stand her and sometimes like this I wanted to grind her to shreds! She smelled better than a strong, middle aged, elk or deer! Humans would wince or grimace, find it disgusting, but to us that's good eating. Rabbits were quite the delicacy as well. I wasn't very into seafood, but there are some good dish-
WHY AM I SO HUNGRY?!
I hadn't realized that I was frowning. Or that Evangeline was talking.
"Oh geez, does it really hurt that bad? Should we take you to a hospital?" She asked, inching closer. My eyes flew open.
"Yeah, no, yeah! I'm fine!" I insisted, scooting away. "I have allergies and my nose is pretty itchy, but that's all! it's nothing really!"
She put a hand over my mouth and held me down. I wanted to cry. If I threw her off of me I'd surely break my cover.
Please, take your hand away...
Evangeline leaned in a little, her aroma being sent flying up my nostrils, "I just wanna see if it's bruised," she whispered. Her breath was heavenly. Even after having a greasy lunch she smelled of spearmint and something fruity.
Back away....
She squinted her eyes and leaned in a little closer. Gee! Thanks for making it so easy to lose my damn mind!
Fool!
A ghost of a smile crossed her lips as she was looking into my eyes, and slowly she began to remove her hand. Her thumb traced a line across my chin and to my cheek, that damn scent becoming more than overwhelming. And then she just stared.
Ba-dum.
Ba-dum.
Ba-dum.
She leaned in further, and ever so gently pressed her lips against mine.... I was surprised, mostly. I wasn't sure what to make of this kiss. I was very much enjoying it until I'd registered her scent again...
And then I snapped.
My hands eagerly grabbed at her waist and trailed up to her face. I caressed her cheek with my hand and parted our lips. A small whimper came from her lips but I was in a daze of hunger. Placing my head in the crook of her neck I ran my fangs across her unclaimed skin and kissed her neck lightly. Right before I greedily sank my teeth in, that is.
