"Why do you hate me so much." Lucas mumbled, typing furiously on the computer we both shared. We had been partnered together for an assignment, and I had no intentions of making this easy for him. Lucas had been a pain in the neck ever since he arrived here, constantly competing with me in every class. It was like this unspoken argument, the challenge to see who was the smartest. What had brought this particular question to him was my latest challenge, as I had written all my notes in Tagalog, a language he did not speak.
"I don't hate you, I just strongly dislike you." I said, continuing to copy more notes, still in Tagalog. Lucas only groaned in response, trying to both translate and copy. I smirked as I saw his troubles, but decided enough was enough, and if I wanted an A, I may as well get this over with. There was no doubt that Lucas and I would write the most perfect essay, and that we would end up on top, but I wasn't going to take my chances.
"Why do they always partner us up? We're both smart, it isn't fair to everyone else that we get to write the best essay ever." Most of what Lucas had just said was under his breath, but I heard every bit of it. I smirked, turning away from my notes and to face the blonde headed boy next to me.
"Did Lucas Ward just admit that I'm smart?" I gasped, faking flattery. Lucas only rolled his eyes, turning to look at me in turn.
"Well, there's no doubt you're smart. You're a lot of things." He said. Lucas had actually abandoned his work for me, which surprised me, as he honestly did strike me as the nerdy type to be too consumed in his works to even speak to a girl.
"Like what?" I asked, a smirk growing on my face.
"Beautiful, for one." Lucas smirked back. I blushed, although my guard was not let down. My aura, however, was glowing, and my heart skipped a few beats.
"You are quite charming, when you want to be." I replied, this time a genuine smile creeping across my face. It was his turn to blush.
"And you're quite nice. When you want to be, that is." He stumbled over his words, now officially flustered. I leaned in and kissed his cheek, and then turned back to my work, leaving it at that.
"Lucas and Y/N, A plus. This was excellent. May I use this as an example?" The teacher said as he reached our desks, turning to show our papers. He was right. A bright red 'A+' was scrawled across the top. Me and Lucas both smiled triumphantly, nodding.
"Of course, sir. And, sir, can I partner with Lucas again next time?" I asked eagerly. The teacher only smirked, his face looking accomplished. He nodded, and then walked off. "Something about that makes it seems like he set this all up."
"For someone who strongly dislikes me, you sure do like being around me." Lucas pointed out. I was sitting on his desk, while he was sitting in it, writing on a piece of paper.
"I don't strongly dislike you. I strongly like you." I corrected him, kissing his cheek once more. He then handed me the paper he was scribbling on, which contained a number and a street address.
"That's my number and address. Use it." He whispered in my ear, before grabbing his things and walking out of class.
"Tonight then, prince charming?" I called after him.
"Of course, princess." He smiled back, blowing a mocking kiss at me. Man, that guy irks me.
