Boom. More thunder following the lightning. You liked the thunder, it was loud and familiar. But the lightning has always scared you. Cole knew this, and while he thought it was childish of a twenty year old to be afraid of lightning, he always held you, making sure you were safe.
But, Cole was running late tonight. You were worried, because he was driving in the weather. You didn't want to call him, because you knew that he would know it's you and that he'd answer, increasing his risk of getting in a wreck. So you waited, shaking and hoping that any minute, Cole would come through, soaking wet.
He eventually did, peeling off his shirt, staring at you with sorry eyes. Cole didn't like to leave you alone in storms, even if he did think your fear was childish. You followed behind him, sleepily, making your way to the bedroom. You watched as he shed every layer of wet clothes, replacing them with warm ones.
Cole crawled into bed next to you, wrapping his long, protective arms around you.
"You know, the lightning is the best part. You never curl up to me the way you do when it hits." He told you, stroking your hair.
"Because in that moment, you've never been more soft." You sleepily confessed, yawning as you buried your head into his shoulder.
