Sudden promises

Katelyn's pov
"Dante!!"

My head whips to my left where the pink covered Meif'wa kneeled in tears. Her daughter and Dimitri held tightly in her grasp. Dante laid across the market place.

A sword through his chest. The despair screaming in Kawaii~chan's Amber eyes were enough to bring tears to my own eyes. I slowly stood up from my crouched position with full intentions in getting Kawaii~chan and the siblings to safety. One step in her direction before I was stopped. Slammed to the ground after a small but fast force tackled into my back.

I jolt my head left over my should to see the being on top of me. Aphmau, I left her at the gate once I saw all the destruction, once I saw all the shadow knights roaming around; I had to go help the civilian. I look away from the lord to see an arrow buzz just over our heads falling with others nearby.

I guess she saved me from being shot. 'Cling' The sound of an arrow bouncing of metal quickly reached my ears as Aph and I came to our feet. The stranger stood protectively deflecting a few Arrows. I gather my footing and mind, I sprint off to where the Meif'wa's; this time people mindful of my surroundings.

Skidding to a stop near her; I drag us to cover. I pull the mother close to my chest practically squishing the children in between. They didn't seem to mind as their little hands jolted to cling onto me. Kawaii~chan sobbed into my should. "Lady Katelyn, lady kawaii~chan, we are evacuating; quickly, to the docks" garroth shouts towards us. The Meif'wa scooped up nekoette and dmitri tightly in her arms. We make our way to the docks knocking down a few shadow knight on our way.

A small boat rested at the docks as a much bigger one pulled away. The small boat seemed as it could hold around 3-4 people. Aphmau was there loading a few crates onto the ship.  Garroth helped the family onto the boat showing them the few crates stashed on it. The lord of Phoenix drop wonders over to me. Some sort of gem in her slightly shaken grasp.

"Katelyn, I need you to take this, don't let anyone take it, ok?"

I nod before speaking. "Ok" was the simple word i breathed before pocketing an odd gem. She quickly shoved me into the boat. Her and her guard turned to walk away. They get ready to sprint off.

"Hey wait! If your staying so am I! I'm fighting with you!" I shout out to Aphmau slightly annoyed.

"You have your mission! And I have mine!" Aphmau shouts back waving to us. She sprints away with Garroth before I could argue more. I was about ready to jump of this boat and join then but then a small voice reached my ears. "Katelyn~Sama? I'm scared"

Turning in my heels I'm faced with three frightened faces. Taking a deep breath I rush other to the steering wheel with a sympathetic look. Sailing away from the docks. My mind racing as Phoenix drop got smaller and smaller.

"I'll protect you" I find myself whispering as I glance to Dmitri, Nekoette and Kawaii~chan resting on the dock below me. " I promise"
