why do you tear
other flowers down?
they are just
as beautiful as you...
could have been
if you hadn't
grown poison ivy
and thorns
so uselessly sharp.
the petals
from them
you keep
at your feet,
if only they
cushioned
your petals as they fell
but they do not
now there is just
rotting flowers
in your garden
plants that were
in fertile soil
ready to help you grow
even now
you do not see
how beautiful
you could have been;
how you could be
