Resolutions For 2018... what they should really be...

Aries

2018 should be the year of self-awareness. This, for starters, means learning to pick and choose your battles. Though you love to stir the pot and get a little feisty, it sometimes is best to just let things be, Aries. Becoming more aware of what is worth fighting for (or about) will help your energy, your relationships, and also help you learn more about what’s important to you, ensuring that you’re living in your truth.

As well, in 2018, be sure to take time to self reflect and get to know yourself better. As silly as this sounds, make lists of whatever it is that interests you and then pursue that with the unbridled passion you were born with as an Aries. Dive headfirst into what makes you heart flutter and what makes you glad to be alive. And don’t give a shit what anyone else says about it either. Although, let’s be real, Aries; not caring what others think is kind of your thing, no?

Finally, self-awareness also means acknowledgement of your limitations and weaknesses, too. As the first sign of the Zodiac, you tend to think of yourself first, always and forever. You have a lot of confidence in your capability to get things done. But none of us are perfect, Aries. Let yourself know when to quit, when to try something different, and be okay with not being able to do it all.

Taurus

2018 is all about getting out of your comfort zone. I know you love comfort, Taurus, but it’s time to get out there and really see what life is all about. This means exploring the walls outside of the little box you’ve created for yourself that is warm and safe and risk free. Leave it behind.

Go to the movies alone, try a new dish at your favorite restaurant instead of what you usually order, finally have that difficult conversation you’ve been putting off. Challenge yourself to walk through new cities and read new books you wouldn’t normally gravitate towards. Expose yourself to new ideas and people and languages and art. It will be scary, it won’t feel natural at first, but these experiences will only improve your life for the better and will expand your horizons to show you how much life truly has to offer. Put yourself out there in 2018, Taurus. You’ll be glad you did.

Gemini

2018 should be all about building your relationship with yourself. As a Gemini, you’re the twin sign of the Zodiac. As such, you’re are all about building your relationships. You adore the company of others, you enjoy a good intellectual debate, and you truly love the intimacy that comes with getting to know and love someone deeply. However, sometimes a relationship with another important person in your life gets put on the back burner. Hint? It’s with yourself.

Gemini, in 2018 I challenge you to spend time alone. Lots of time alone. I’m talking staying in on a Saturday night with just yourself, a glass of wine, and a book you’ve been meaning to read, or a new movie on Netflix you’ve been wanting to watch. And I’m not going to sugarcoat this. It’s going to feel weird and lonely at first, that’s guaranteed. However, if you never spend time with just yourself, if you never allow yourself to be alone with that great mind of yours, you can never really learn about you. 2018 is your year to just do you. Get on it.

Cancer

2018 should be the year of opening up, both emotionally and intellectually. Cancer is the Crab, and as such you tend to put yourself into a shell by sheltering yourself from ideas that scare you, protecting your heart from potential rejection, and hiding your feelings from those who have hurt you. While keeping certain things private is totally okay and actually healthy, you tend to overdo it, Cancer.

You avoid letting people know when they’ve hurt you, which ultimately doesn’t do your relationship any favors (nor your self respect). You never make the first move in romantic encounters, which leaves you in a permanent state of “what if” and almost loves. You never challenge your ideas about the world, and instead stick with what you know from when you were growing up and what you learned at home. Stop.
