Evans POV:
Since I was still tired it took me a few minutes to get right, so I had to ignore Jess and Richie's comments about my snail like pace. It was actually kind of funny, I didn't mind cause it helped to keep us sane.
I don't know what I'd do without the crew, can't express how happy I am I don't have to find out.
"Ight everybody, we good to go." I walked past them and headed towards the door, I noticed everyone had their backpacks and were laced and ready to go.
"Weapons check," was my next statement as I checked my own shit. Sparks was the first to reply, "Always on point boss man." I nodded and turned to Richie, he cocked back his M16 and raised it above his head.
"Locked and loaded" was his response with a big grin on his face. Jessie had a .357 but it was always loaded, then again she never used it.
She tied up her hair in a ponytail and shifted her weight to one side, "Ready when you are." I couldn't help but smile as I turned to Cam. "And you?"
Cameron was more of a last line of defense if you will, he had a 12 gauge shotgun and several grenades we found a few months back raiding houses.
We've yet to find a use for the grenades, but you never know. "Always on go bro," and with that we were gone.
We started heading out west towards the Flea Market on 79th street and 27th ave. It wasn't our final destination, but we knew we'd need more weapons and there are a few paw shops that sold guns down that way.
We'd need transportation to actually leave the Dade-County area, but for now we needed to get somewhere fortified enough to make a stand just in case we ran against more walkers.
The four of us were moving at a pretty decent pace, bout a 2 and a half mile hike in total.
I figured it would give us enough time to search the entire complex and find a safe place to make camp before the sun went down again.
Surprisingly, we got to 27th ave within the estimated time, so I decided to rest for a bit. There was an abandoned bus and that's where I felt would be best to stay out of sight, but still catch our breath.
Shaking my head, but was I wrong... Before I could take a real good look, Cam was already opening the doors on the bus.
Next thang I knew, he was shooting the shotgun and backing off. We all started running towards him when we noticed several crawlers running after him.
Jess was in the lead and she had her katana's out, I couldn't get a clear shot and from the looks of thangs neither could Sparky.
"Run Cam, run!" was what I was screaming as I tried to close the gap between us.
"No shit Sherlock" was his response zig zagging through deserted cars heading towards what was left of the royal castle.
Jessie was close enough to mount a crawler, she slit its throat and it fell face first into the pavement.
She leaped off of it and rolled avoiding any injury and attacking yet another crawler, "Damn this bitch is a beast," is what was playing in my head as I took a clean shot dropping one of the crawlers.
I guess Sparks still had no shot cause I ain't hear the rifle off once, but Cam was inside the doors to the store now and dropping the three remaining crawlers.
We all got back into our defensive formation, and had eyes in every direction. "What the fuck Cam?!" I was livid at this point.
"Who the fuck told you to go in there like that" He gave me a dumb look, "Nigga you said we was gonna break on the bus!"
