ALONE

LEFT TO DIE

Alone I lay
On the cold hard floor where he left me,
He left me to die,
A slow and painful death,

I was naìve to have fallen for him,
I fell for his looks and charm,
But little did I know I was being played,
I fell for he's sweet words,
But now I know there weren't sweet at all,

I let him in,
Let him break the walls I spent years building,
He showed me what it meant to be happy,
But all that was just a show,

He played me,
Fooled me but I never noticed,
Never noticed how he'd laugh with his friends as I approached him,
Never noticed the looks he gave me until it was too late,

I was blinded and didn't see it coming,
But when it did, there was nothing I could do,
It was as if my will was taken away from me,
As if I couldn't think on my own anymore,

I thought he loved me,
I thought he cared for me,
But I was wrong,
Wrong to think that he'd ever love me,

But one day,
I saw his true self,
I saw that he wasn't what he claimed to be,
For that day I saw he's true being,

I tried running away from him,
But he'd always catch me,
Tried hiding,
But he'd always find me wherever I went,

It was as if he was my shadow,
Always close behind
But never seen
And always there,

It got worse,
He was a monster
And I was he's victim
For I couldn't do anything about it,

I got beaten,
Abused and even tortured,
But not one bit did he care,
All he did was laugh right in my face,

If only I had listened
Listened to what my rational side told me,
Maybe, just maybe,
I wouldn't be laying on this cold hard floor with no one to save me

Maybe if I'd listened I'd still be alive,
Alive to tell my story
To whomever would listen,
To whomever cared and wanted me safe,

But I had no one
and he knew that,
He knew he'd leave me here to die
And no one would even care or notice I was gone,

But now I lay here
Slowly losing my breath
And my eyes dropping
For my life has come to an abrupt end.
