Draco felt his eyes begin to sting, but he did not let himself cry. He had to brace himself for rejection, for Jinx to run away and never talk to him again. Her eyes were full of terror, making him wince.
Then she threw her arms around him, holding him like it was her last chance to. Draco hugged her back with just as much purpose. "..I'm scared," her shakey voice muttered.
"I know," Draco replied quietly, gently rubbing her back, "..I am too." He pulled away just enough to see her eyes, "but we're stronger together than alone."
Jinx nodded and sniffled as one of Draco's hand gently wiped away her tears. "You're right," she agreed, "..I'll tell you."
After finding a secluded spot in the castle, the two sat down together and Jinx began her story. It was the same story she'd told Harry, Ron, and Hermione; of how Tom Riddle was her cursed son. Draco listened without interrupting all the way to the end.
After finishing, there was a brief silence. "Voldemort is..your son?" Draco asked in disbelief.
Jinx nodded shamefully. "If he finds out, I can only imagine what torture he'd put me through, for what I did to him," she explained tiredly.
"But you did nothing wrong, he was just born destined for destruction," Draco insisted.
"But why was I the one? Why was it I who had to bring him to the world? Surely I did something wrong," Jinx countered Draco's statement.
Draco was silent for a while as he thought about her words. "..Maybe you did, but that doesn't matter," he began, "everyone does wrong things in their life, just look at me for example. And sometimes, bad things just happen. You can't keep living in it though; you have to let yourself move on."
His words held deep meaning in her heart and soul; he was right. A new confidence rose in her drying eyes. Her next words were spoken with such strength that it gave Draco chills, "I am going to destroy Voldemort."
But Draco felt conflicted. He knew it would be suicide to run away from his family and the Dark Lord right now. He'd have to wait, play along for a while until the time was right. He only hoped that he and Jinx would make it to the end of this together.

It'd been a rather stressful last couple of months, with the OWLs coming up, Umbridge's grown power, and Voldemort's scheming. However, Jinx was able to stay happy through it all. And her happiness must've been contagious, for even Harry, the most involved, was staying positive.
But today was the dreaded day of the OWLs testing. All of the fifth year students were filed into a large room filled with desks. They were all arranged alphabetically by last name, therefore Draco and Jinx were right next to each other. They shot one another uncertain smiles, and then began.
The test was incredibly detailed and boring, just as everyone had expected. But what no one did expect was for the Weasley twins to sabotage the whole thing. Within the first ten minutes of testing, they flew in on broomsticks, setting fireworks off everywhere.
Jinx was quite alarmed when sparks began to chase students around at random. Yet the whole situation was relieving. She couldn't help laughing uncontrollably when she notice Draco running from one of the sparks.
Having seen her laughing at him, Draco grinned evilly and shouted through the chaos, "oh I'll get you back for that!"
The two grabbed hands and ran out of the room with the rest of the students, following the master pranksters. Jinx felt adrenaline rush through her body and a lighthearted laugh erupted as she ran.
Draco glanced down at her for a moment as they took off side by side. The freedom in her eyes was absolutely beautiful. He wished she could stay this happy forever.
Eventually everyone was on a wide balcony outside, cheering on Fred and George. Jinx saw many of her friends smiling up at the sky where the twins disappeared to. Ron looked quite proud of his brothers, clapping and hollering. Hermione stood next to him laughing. But Jinx only saw Harry right as he collapsed on the floor.
Draco watched her face fade into a look of horror, but before he could ask what was wrong, Jinx quickly changed to her wolf form and raced to her Gryfindor friends.
Harry was just barely sitting up, with Hermione's aid. Jinx barked once to alert them that she was there. Within moments, they were racing down the empty halls if Hogwarts toward Umbridge's office. They snuck in to use her fireplace, but were quickly caught by the pink lady herself.
"Not so fast!" She snarled, pointing her wand at them. But upon seeing Jinx, she leapt backward in terror, "oh! What is that, doing in my office?"
A couple of Slytherin boys that worked for Umbridge grabbed Harry, Ron, and Hermione. One even grabbed Jinx by her scruff, which was quite painful.
"Where is Draco?" Umbridge demanded. Just as she did so, he enter the room.
"I-I'm here, professor," he reported. His eyes widened slightly when he saw Jinx.
"Good, don't let them get away," she ordered as she left the room.
Draco nodded hesitantly and looked over to the boy holding Jinx. "Oh come on, Blaise," he spoke with an eye roll, "you really think the wolf is part of it? Just let her go."
"Professor Umbridge said not to let any of them go," Blaise retorted, pulling on Jinx's scruff hard, making her yelp.
At this she turned her neck around and bite down on the boy's arm. He yelled in pain and let go immediately. Jinx ran out of the office, leaving Blaise with many bleeding tooth holes in his arm. Draco smirked as he watched her leave.
