Best Friends

Anna's P.O.V

Six months later

"Dang it, Jungkook. Answer the darn phone." Anna said to herself as she tried calling Jungkook for the third time in a row. 

Scarlett, one of Anna's new friends and coworkers, decided to watch a scary movie over at Anna's house. Anna acted all fearless about it, but inside, she was terrified. She loved scary movies, as long as she had someone with her that she could hide behind and cuddle into. And that someone was Jungkook. 

"Hello?" A breathless Jungkook answered the phone. Anna heard a female voice in the background.

"Jungkook? Are you-?" She stopped her sentence. She knew what he was doing and it made her upset for some reason. 

"Anna? What's going on? What do you need?" Jungkook asked. 

"Nothing. Nevermind. Sorry I interrupted you." Anna said with an attitude. 

"Wait, Anna-" She interrupted him by hanging the phone up and she looked at herself in the bathroom mirror. 

'Why are you acting like this? What is going on with you? Why do you feel so....hurt?' Anna asked herself. 

She fixed her pajamas and went back to her living room. She sat beside Scarlett. Scarlett could tell that Anna was upset. 

"You wanna talk about it?" Scarlett asked. Anna sighed before looking at her fingers. 

"I tried calling Jungkook to invite him over so he could watch the movie with us, but when I called him, he was... doing the dirty." Anna explained. Scarlett started laughing.

"Doing the dirty? That is so cute. I've never heard it be called that." Scarlett said while laughing. Anna glared at her. 

"Anyways, it hurt my feelings for some reason. I got jealous of her for a minute. Not because she gets to do the dirty with him, but because she gets to be in his arms right now. I don't know what is going on with me." Anna explained. 

"I know what is going on with you. You have caught feelings for your bestfriend. You like him. Heck, it might even be more than liking him." Scarlett said. Anna shook her head at Scarlett. Deep down, though, she knew Scarlett was right. And it scared her. 

About thirty minutes into the scary movie, the girls heard a knock on the door. They jumped and looked at each other. Anna looked at the time and saw it was 10:00 p.m. She quietly walked over to the door and thanked God at that moment that she had a peephole on her door. She looked through the peephole and saw Jungkook standing out there staring at his feet. She sighed when she saw it was him. She then realized she didn't want to see him. She motioned Scarlett to be quiet and hoped that he would think she wasn't home and would go away.

"Anna, I know you're in there. Please let me in." Jungkook said. 

'How does he do that? How does he know what I am thinking?" She asked herself.

"What do you want, Jungkook?" Anna asked, trying her best to not sound hurt or rude. She was a very emotional girl and she knew that if she let him in, she would cry. 

"I want to see my bestfriend. Please let me in Anna-bug." Jungkook said. Anna growled. 

"Stop calling me that! I am not a child!" She whined. Jungkook laughed. That made her even more mad.

"I don't want to see you. I don't want you here. Go away. Go home. It's 10 at night." Anna said to Jungkook. 

"Then why did you call me?" Jungkook asked. Anna paused. 

"Be-Because I wanted to see you earlier, I don't want to anymore. Why don't you go to that other girl. I'm sure she wants to see you again. She is obviously more important to you than I am." Anna said, being petty. Jungkook chuckled to himself. 

"Are you jealous, Anna Gabrielle Reece?" Jungkook asked, already knowing the answer. 

"No!" Anna argued. She crossed her arms and pouted. 

"Listen, she is not more important than you, at all. Other than my mom, you are the most important woman to me." Jungkook said. "Please let me in."

Anna sighed and gave in. She unlocked the door and opened it up to a very handsome Jungkook. He smiled at her when he saw her. She, however, was still pouting. Jungkook found that adorable. She didn't even know she was doing it. She had a natural pout whenever she was confused or upset. He loved it about her. 

Jungkook walked into her apartment with arms open. 

"No. Don't touch me. You're annoying me." Anna said. Jungkook giggled to himself again. 

"Okay. I won't touch you." Jungkook said as he slid his jacket and shoes off. 

The three of them went back to the living room and resumed the scary movie. Anna tried her best not to cuddle into Jungkook when she got scared. She hit her face in her hands and peeked through her fingers at the movie. Jungkook laughed at her. Her heart skipped a beat at the sound of his laughter. 

A demon on the movie popped up on screen and Anna squealed before hiding her face with her hands again. Jungkook smiled. 

"Come here, baby girl. I'll protect you." He whispered to her. She hesitated before laying her head on his shoulder. He wrapped his arms around her and she sighed in content. She had missed that feeling. She automatically thought back to what happened earlier. She pulled away from Jungkook and he looked down at her with a confused facial expression. She stood up and walked to the kitchen. He followed her. Scarlett didn't even notice that they had left. 

"What's wrong?" Jungkook asked. Anna shook her head. She gave him a fake smile. She was trying to shake the strange feeling she was having. 

"Are you hungry?" Anna asked. 

"No. Not really." Jungkook said, still confused. 

Anna got a pan and got the ingredients out for a breakfast sandwich. She started with the bacon, and then the sausage and nobody said anything the whole time. 

Anna was deep in thought while she was cooking. After about five more minutes, she finally spoke. 

"Who was she?" Anna asked quietly. 

"What?" Jungkook asked. She repeated herself, except louder. 

"Who was she? The woman you were with?" 

He sighed. 

"Just an old friend from high school. It wasn't anything serious." Jungkook told her. 

"Maybe not for you. It might have been for her." Anna said. Jungkook kept quiet. "Jungkook, I think we need to seperate for a little while." Anna said. 

"What? No. Separate? Why?" Jungkook asked. 

"I can't...tell you. Please?" Anna said. 

"No. Not until you give me a good reason why. You are my best friend." Jungkook said. Anna sighed and gathered the last bit of her confidence. 

"Yea. That's the problem. 'Friend'. I can't do it anymore." Anna said. 

"You don't want us to be friends anymore?" Jungkook asked. 

"I think it's for the best. Just for a little while. Please, Jungkook." Anna said as a tear ran down her face. 

"Why?" Jungkook asked. He walked over to her and grabbed her face in his hands. She backed away from him. 

"Because. I can't tell you. Just trust me. Please. I need time." Anna said. Jungkook took a deep breathe before nodding slowly and looking at the ground.

"Okay." He turned around and grabbed his shoes and coat and walked out of the door.
