(Unedited)
"Hey Sun, you do realize we could all die if this goes wrong right?""Or you know, we shift all the earth and millions die because of the tide switch" "And don't forget that she's 16 and is so clumsy she hurt her lab coat on the demonstration with a candle"
These were only some of the many people who were trying to talk me out of pushing the red button. It's like a cartoon were the main character pushes the red button and everything explodes. Of course we were doing a miniature version of the project so only a few million things could go wrong instead of a few billion. If it went wrong we were as good as dead and could possible kill a few million people. Was it smart? No. Was I gonna push the red button? Hell ya. Besides the main character always survives in the cartoons... right?
"Well it's been nice knowing you all. I have already contacted all your lawyers and your families will be financially stable for the rest of their earthly lives" I say as I slam the red button. After a few seconds nothing happened. All the men looked at each other as I pressed my face to the glass. "It worked! I told you guys! Look, look!" I say jumping up and down as all the men went slack jawed. It was just a few different sized and weighted marbles floating around a ball of heat and light. I looked like a crude solar system. Even though we didn't have rings for Saturn and Uranus was round. (I know, I still laugh at the name but the other scientist don't take me seriously if I laugh in front of them. But I mean come on!).
All the balls were black and if it was a solar system project we would have gotten disqualified at a science fair. But this was going to win at least 5 Nobel peace prizes and 10 humanitarian awards. This little crude solar system was going to make me and my helpers- I mean "colleges" rich! Because what we had just done would be put down in history as humans greatest discovery... for at least a few years anyway.
(A/N So this is my first story and I can't wait to see how it goes. I won't really be doing author notes a lot I just wanted to say thank you for reading the teaser and I hope you enjoy the story. I encourage constructive criticism since I have little to no writing experience and want to learn as much as I can. Thanks ;) -Her who shall not be named)
