Episode 4 - Instincts

Nozomi's PoV

Today will definitely be the same as always. What am I going to feed on next?

Nobody has a sweet scent here, everybody's a weakling or 'trash' is a better term. I could hardly forget how they reacted when I introduced myself last March and I've concluded one thing – HUMANS ARE WEAK and therefore, hypnotism works on them. I sat down and just stared at the book I've already read.

Wait a minute.

I smell something unique. That scent. My throat's killing me. My head's going nuts for the first time ever since I got here.

Miss Minami entered with a dark-haired boy who I have never seen before. The boy's scent was enchanting and was burning my throat! He introduced himself as Mitsue.

'Crap!' I thought.

That boy was staring at me! Wait! What did the teacher say? He will sit beside me? No, sitting beside me with that kind of scent will drive me crazier!

"Hi there." He greeted me with his charming voice.

I couldn't answer to him immediately. My throat was pissing me off.
He clearly didn't know what happened last March and talking to him will make my blood react ferociously.

During classes, I noticed him peeking at me from time to time. Why is that? My mind couldn't figure out.

Finally, recess!!

I went out of the room to avoid contact with anyone.

'Thud!'

I fell to my knees as soon as I reached an empty room on the 3rd floor, which I use as my hideout.

My fangs came out on their own accord. I need to feed on someone now! No! There's no time! I've reached my limit! I bit my arm, trying to ease off the hunger with my own blood. Even though it is bad for me to feed on myself, it would be worse if I just feed on someone in public – that's against the rules of the council. We are only allowed to feed on animals.

When my hunger sides of a little, I returned to class, making sure I hypnotize everyone around me so that they don't notice anything different about me.

"Welcome back!" Mitsue said, smiling at me. My blood boils again. What is with this guy?

I was caught up in my thoughts when he mentioned about something on my face. I was confused so I just stared back at him as he pulled out a tissue and wiped my face.

I couldn't move. Then, his hand slipped and touched my cheek. He's so warm and it pleases my skin but my fangs wanted the opposite.

"Annoying." That's all I could say and he flinched.

My head was spinning and I couldn't focus on the teacher's lecture. I couldn't absorb anything...

During lunch time, I fled outside of school to hunt. No luck. Couldn't even find a single animal. The break's nearly over so I dashed towards the school rooftop. I was about to open the door when my body froze and dropped to the floor.

Someone opened the door, this scent....
My instincts were controlling me again. Why can't I control them like I used to?
I bit myself again before that person could see my face. Blood was dripping down my arm.

"Stop that!" that charming voice again.

"You!" Not him again.

He should leave, well, I will scare him off. I stood up and walked towards him. As expected, he stepped back.

"Are you really a v-vampire?" He asked.

His voice is wavering but in a courageous manner.

"Are you scared? I asked him.

What should I do if he said he was? Should I hypnotize him?

"I'm not!" His voice was shaking but his eyes shows innocence, curiosity and courage.

I was thrilled somehow, for the first time to hearing something like this from someone.

"Just leave me alone!!"

I didn't want him to see my expression. Was I blushing? The next thing I knew, he was gone.

I want him – was what my mind keeps telling me. I skipped afternoon classes for the fear of crossing the line. Attacking him would endanger my entire clan.

So I decided to go hunting to spend the rest of the day and ease off my hunger... And to forget about him.
