"Wait!" I screamed, holding back the little girl. Then only two seconds later a mustang whipped by, if the girl crossed she would have been hit, "Go," I said. The girl looked up at me with wide eyes and crossed the street. I walked down the sidewalk in the other direction, towards work.
I walked in and rushed to the front of the line, that's when the man's coffee left his grip. I quickly grabbed it before it had hit the floor, "Careful," I said, handing the cup back to the man. I then stood up on the counter and counted all the people in line, seven. Then I hopped over the other side, where my boyfriend Steve was making some more coffee.
"Smooth as always," he said, kissing me.
"As always," I put on my apron and began making coffees for the busy people of Indianapolis. It was a decent job, I just got out of high school, not ready for collage just yet. It was an easy job, I got off at five. I didn't go home with Steve that night, I had plans, maybe. I don't know, sometimes I just get these feelings and I just go follow them. That's what saved that little girl and the man's coffee. Well, I guess the girl was more important.
As I was walking home a man came up to me, he wore a bowtie, was in his 20's. We waited for the cross sign, he was kind of cute. Then the light turned green we walked across then I herd gunshots, but I looked around and no one else did. I could feel movement in the building next to me. I grabbed onto the cute man and we ran across the street, almost getting hit by a car.
"What are you doing?" he asked, he was British.
"Saving your life," I said, then the gun shots went off. A body fell through a window, a man shot the body that hit the pavement a few more times, right where we were. Then the man at the window began shooting randomly, I pulled the man down. The bullet hit the window, the glass shattered around us. Police sirens wailed and gunfire was louder, more frequent, then stopped. I stood up and the man in the window was dead.
The man stood up, strieghtening his bowtie, "Did you.." he pointed at me then at the window, "How did you know about that?"
I gave the man a half smile, "I just know a lot of things. See you dude," and I walked down the street, I blened into the crowd. I herd the man yell after me but it was too late, I had left. I walked past the pawn shop, they had just closed. I looked in the store and saw the most beautiful necklace, then I saw the tag, $1,586!
I looked inside, there were three cameras, one looking at the entrece, another one at the jewlry table, another on the guns. I went around back and began to jiggle the handle, then jerked it. I did it enough times until it just broke. I opened the door and walked in. There was the storeage, I needed to hide my face from the cameras. I looked through a box and found a giant horse mask, I put it on. It smelled like piss.
I went into the room and there it was, on the table, perfect. I took it off and went back out. I threw away the horse head and pocketed the necklace. I walked down the street, like nothing had happened. I mean, I do all this all the time. I needed some money so I just do this. Never got caught, always in the right spot at the right time.
I walked into my empty apartment, the TV still on from this morning. I layed out on my couch and looked at the necklace in the shimmering light of the Walking Dead. Then a knock came at my door, I sighed and out the necklace in my pocket. I jumped up from the couch and to the door.
I opened it and there was an older man with light hair and dark eyes, he wore a navy blue coat, "Can I help you?" I asked.
"Can I ask for your name? It's been bothering me for quite a long time now," he said.
"Dean James, now who are you?" I asked.
He let out a sarcastic smile, "The Doctor."
"Well Doctor what you need? Do I know you?"
