The ride to the Nerverda institution for arts was really disturbing with all the traffic, and the really awful weather made things worst. The sudden halt of the sedan told both girls and boys that we've arrived at our destination. Happily ,we jumped out of the car to get our luggage and head to the reception for check in. I couldn't believe that this day had finally come. I'd dream for this day to come for so long that when I had heard that my scholarship had been accepted I literally went crazy. Debbie on the other hand had already started drifting a plan B in case they declined our scholarship. It was a dream come true for the both of us and although our parent weren't that thrilled, they'd tried their best to be supportive and happy for us.
The lady handed us our room keys with our room numbers. we were literally the last people to be checked in, all thanks to Debbie's cautiousness. We both got the last rooms on the 9th floor , room 446 and 447. We were basically beside each other and she practically loathed herself for making us arrive late.
We didn't share a room this made her upset but after I had convinced her that we were neighbours that and we could see each other whenever we needed help, she calmed down.
My room was empty by the time I got in. my supposed roommate wasn't in and I wondered were she'd gone. But soon enough it clicked in my head that it was a weekend and she'd probably be somewhere hanging out and having fun. I made some mental note to have some fun with her by the time I had completely settled down.
That was the last box I had to put away. My stuffs were all in one closet by the right side of the room. My sigh totally famished when it was totally all done. I sat on the single bed as I took out the ramekin of home made salad made by Sally for me and Debbie. It was tasty to say the least. Sally always made good foods that was always tasty.
As I thought of sally a big smile played on my lips as I remembered how Debbie was against the remarriage of her father to sally most especially. She said step mothers were mostly cruel and mean especially the rich one like Sally. The was so much convincing before Debbie could finally agree to the marriage. But even after the marriage, she hated the sight of Sally. She'd often said a lot of mean things to Sally, but when Sally proved how much she cared about us, Debbie was forced to give in. Accepting Sally was tough but she did it anyway, all she really actually needed was time.
When I was done eating I put the ramekin in the dishwasher at the small kitchenette in the room. To be honest, the room was really cosy even though it was small.
Later on, I indulged myself in a magazine. Posh to be precise, the one you could easily find all kinds of celebrity gossips and irritating stuffs like that. I always wondered why I had gotten it but now I knew why. An hour later, there was a knock on the door and i instantly went to get it.
Apparently I was tired of boredom and needed company. I practically froze on the spot when I opened the door. I wasn't sure of what to say. It has been almost a year and 3 months and i wasn't expecting this one bit.
"YOU?". My tone was low and husky to the point that one could easily tell that the company was who I wasn't expecting. There was an uncomfortable silence that clouded the atmosphere and I couldn't help but feel uneasy.
"What do you want from me Brick?". I asked with one arm bracing the door and the other on my hips.
" You are in my room and how did you get in here?". He slurred. I could easily tell that he was a little bit tipsy, so maybe he was the one mistaken.
"This is my room Brick Harvard". At the realization that i hadn't said that name or hear it in a while, I flinched and cringed my teeth as the memorises started flooding back. I wanted to bury them, I tried, but it was harder than I thought because at the sudden mention of his name all the memorises came flooding back. Brick Harvard, my high school boyfriend was standing at my door step looking at me with that smashing gaze of his. He was still a little drunk but most definitely sexy.
"Jo say something!" His worried voice soon pierced into my ear bringing me back to reality. But that wasn't all, his palms were in mine clutching it tightly and sending tingles down my stomach. The feelings were as familiar as the one i had gotten used to and loved so much.
"To earth Jo" He said waving his hands in front of my face to get my attention.
"Let go of me Brick! I don't want you touching me, not in this lifetime or ever." I cringed all of a sudden surprising him. Instantly, he pulled back raising his hand in surrender.
"Hey chill out, just trying to be nice." He chirps in casually. I gave him a death glare that somehow seemed hilarious to him, causing a smirk on his lips.
"I believed I asked you a question!" I said folding my arms over my midsection, tapping my foot impatiently.
"I think I should be asking you that Red".
"Well as you can see this is my room....Brick! And you are clearly an unwanted guest here, so do well to leave." I said with all amount of seriousness.
"Hold on a minute?? What do you mean by this is your room because you must be kidding me. This is my room also cause those are my stuffs right there!" Brick protested. There was silence as I seemed to be suddenly speechless. This could only mean one thing and that is- Brick is my roommate.
At the realization, I gasped "No way!! This cannot be true. This only means one thing....You are my roommate Brick!" I said as my eye popped out. A smirk then played on his lips.
