The battle scream pierced my ears as I stared into the cold, burning eyes of Gallin. Was this it? Was this the time for destiny to become? Questions raced through my mind as I prepared my dragon to charge. Concentrate, I thought. The horn sounded and my dragon dove into the canyon below. We streaked past Gallin as he turned, just in time to see a dark smirk haunt his face. I rose my sword with disgust, adrenalin fueling my actions.  We circled around, and I lashed my sword out to take the first strike of bitter- sweet battle.

I bolted up in bed from my dream. Cold sweat ran down my face and drenched my bed.The same dream again. I'd been having the same one for ages, always waking up before my sword pierced the horrible man's flesh.

I turned my head so I could see the alarm clock. The soft glow said it was 6:43 AM. I slowly got up to wake my mother for work, but then noticed it was a Saturday. She had to get to the hospital at 5AM on Saturdays for her shift. It sucked, because I barely ever got to see her since she got the job as a nurse at the hospital. She only had half shift on weekdays, but that was from 6PM to 12AM, and I got home from school at 4PM. the only day I got to see her for more than two hours was on Sundays. It was pretty bad, but she was trying her best to always keep us on our feet.

I pulled on some sweatpants and went downstairs. The first this I noticed was the smell of coffee drifting up the stairs. My mouth watered as I walked into the kitchen and grabbed myself a cup of semi- warm coffee and stuck it in the microwave. As I waited for that to heat up, I wandered into the living room and turned on the T.V. The news was on, so I left it on that. I didn't like the news very much, but there was always someone talking on it, so I didn't feel as lonely with it on.

I let my mind wander until I heard the name of the hospital my mom worked at. I snapped back to reality and turned the volume up.

"Is only on the top floor, but many were crucially wounded from the fire. There are two recorded deaths so far, and hopefully no more. Marie, back to you." My heart raced. My mom worked on the top floor. Before I knew what was happening, I was backing out the driveway in my old Honda, on my way to the hospital.
