"Amanda, honey, please wake up."
A piercing voice reaches my subconscious through the dark. I decide to ignore it, I don't think I have the mental capability of doing anything right now.
"Maybe we should hook her up to an IV, Natasha. I'm worried that she's dehydrated," another annoying voice reaches my ears. I'm about to decide to ignore this one too, but then my brain pieces together what the voice is saying. They're going to stick a needle in my arm.
"No needles!" a hoarse croak escapes my mouth that I barely recognize as my own. I manage to peel my eyelids open. It takes my eyes a moment to focus, but when they do I see a concerned Natasha and Bruce looking down at me. I look down at myself and see that I'm laying in a queen size bed, and I slowly realized I'm in the bedroom Tony has lent me.
"Oh thank goodness," Natasha says when she sees my open eyes. She takes a few steps backwards away from the bed, but Bruce stays right where he is, looking down at me with his critical doctor eyes.
"It's a good sign she's awake, but I still think an IV to help get her fluid level is a good idea," Bruce says turning to face Natasha as he speaks to her.
"No, no, no!" I say quietly and Bruce turns back to face me.
"No IVs, no needles," I say shaking my head slightly.
Bruce smiles slightly at my despair. "Not a fan of needles Amanda?"
"No I really don't like them at all. They... they bring back bad memories," I say in my still hoarse voice.
"Alright I won't give you an IV, but you do need to drink plenty of fluids today. I don't know what happened to you last night, but being dehydrated is only going to hurt you," Bruce advises me.
"I will, no worries," I say. I start to sit up, but Bruce places a hand on my shoulder to hold me down. I look up at him, confused as to why he won't let me get up.
"You've been unconscious for 7 hours, Amanda. None of us could get you to wake up after you collapsed last night. I think you should take it easy until we know why you suddenly lost conscious for such a long period of time," Bruce says, slight worry evident on his face.
"I'm okay Bruce. Really. I'm sorry that I scared you guys last night, but that actually happens a lot when I use my powers too much. I think I just use all of my energy reserve when I use my powers a lot. I'm not exactly sure if that's it though, the doctors at... Hydra couldn't figure out what caused it for sure," I say, choking on the name of the organization I hate while I give my explanation.
Bruce looks at me uncertainly, so I say, "I've always been fine once I wake up. I usually feel a little weak, but I can still function as normal."
Bruce nods and steps back from the bed, allowing me to get up. I sit up slowly, just to make sure I really am okay this time. I swing my legs out from under the covers, pulling my skirt down as I do so. I'm still wearing the same clothes from the night before.
I stand up and ask, "How did I get to my room last night?"
"Steve carried you," Natasha answered simply. That made sense to me. Steve was known for always being a gentleman. I could easily picture him coming to the rescue of a helpless unconscious girl, even though I hated to be the helpless girl.
"What happened with that Ultron dude? We killed him didn't we? Who was he anyways?" I asked next. I was beginning to recollect all of the events from the night previous, but I still didn't understand everything that had happened.
"Um yes, about that..." Bruce trailed off uncertainly as he glanced at Natasha for guidance. "We'll uh, talk about it over breakfast?"
"Okay," I said, accepting his answer for now. I figured it would take some serious explaining to catch me up.
