The Sailor in the Sea
The boat rocks
back and forth.
The lines have been empty
all day.
Not a single fish
for his poor starving family.
Sighing, the Sailor
lay back on the boat.
The moon was full,
giving off plenty of light to see.
As seconds passed the light
seemed to grow brighter.
The boat rocked
back and forth
swaying on
the waves.
It stared at him,
as he lay asleep.
A strong will he had,
dependable and caring.
Grinning widely
It licks its lips.
It lands on the boats ledge,
lurching the boat around.
Awakening the sailor.
He jumps up.
Above hims stands
a creature,
of pure beauty.
“A Goddess you must be!”
he exclaims.
The Goddess only nods her head,
licks her dark red lips.
“Will you please help
my poor starving family?”
Landing on his knees before her,
he bows his head.
Smiling angelically,
It floats higher into the air.
Holding its hands up
into the starless sky,
towards the full moon.
He lifts his head,
to admire the Goddess,
with her alluring aura.
Standing up he sets his stones
into place
like the many men before him.
Walking to the edge of the boat,
a single thought,
caught his attention.
‘What about your,
starving
family?’
But the Goddess
tilts her head.
He loses all thoughts,
but for one.
Lifting his foot
he steps off the boat.
The sea closes up
around him.
Filling his nose, throat, and lungs.
Smiling he waited
for his Goddess to come.
Even as his vision turned black.
Smiling It rose above the boat,
while bubbles came up.
He drowned.
His soul giving It power.
Its skin glowed,
eyes flashed.
Before It flew back,
toward the moon.
